72] NEW TECHNIQUE Test for Acrylic Pouring THROUGH a Notched Cup - DecoArt Americana

Показать описание
In this video I make my first attempt at pouring through a “tool” of my design... a cup with customized notches for the paint to flow... similar to a bottle bottom pour but without the bottle. Interesting results... very encouraging!

-=- PAINT MIXING
- I mix my paint 1 part paint to 3 parts pouring medium.
I tend to eyeball amounts because I’ve come to realize that having the same consistency/thickness, for each of your mixed paints, is more important than the ratios of medium to paint.
ALL of my paints (all the pouring colors as well as whatever negative space color I might use) are mixed to the same consistency using the formula above and adding tiny bits of water as, and if, needed.
- When adding water, the goal is to get my paint to the consistency of warm honey. The amount of water will depend on the type of acrylic paint ... Flow acrylic (runny like syrup) will need very little water if any, while medium to heavy body paint (thick like toothpaste) will need more. Try to limit the amount of water that you use ... too much will break down the binding properties of the acrylic paint. How much is too much? Try to keep the amount of water to under 25% of the amount of paint if you can.

-=- SEALING
Once my paintings dry, I spray them with a low odor, user-friendly, crystal clear, museum-quality varnish designed for acrylics, oils and watercolors. It gives a glossy finish.
This was done on a 10 x 10 inch canvas.
Thank you in advance for watching the videos, sharing them, commenting and leaving a thumbs up. Your kindness helps my channel continue and it is all greatly appreciated! May the alcohol inks, resin, and paints be kind, and may the pours be with you. 😊💕
