If I understood, the epidermis of the skin should rise up with hardening of the area as I could see is that it’s only discoloration and the surface did not rise or boil. You would also ask patient for other variables that can make a false positive like if he scratched or touched it

as i remember it, if one was unsure on the skin test at the free clinic where I worked, then that patient would get sent for a Quantiferon Gold TB test and // or chest x-ray.
