Hong Kong microbiologist Yuen Kwok-yung has battled some of the world's worst threats, including the SARS virus he helped isolate and identify. The scientist warns that another pandemic is not only inevitable but it could exact damage far worse than Covid-19, he tells AFP at the city's Queen Mary Hospital, where he works and teaches.

He may have identified SARS, but the CDC already had that bad behavior patented. Always follow the patents (patents are created to financially benefit from what ever a human(s) create).

when a country has continuous mass unemployment spiralling out of control and the govt has exhausted all clues on how to turn the economy around and to generate new jobs. Facing increasing threats of these jobless feeling despair with no job, no income, no money to pay for food and lodgings, seeing no lights at the end of tunnel and with nothing to loose any more, , an eventual progression into a country wide revolution is inevitable and taking them down like what pakistan govt is doing isn't going to go down well with the govt's international standing . But with a new deadlier strain of virus which unlike covid 19, doesnt takes up limited hospital resources but has the capability to reduce a larger no.of threats almost within 24 hours will be a dream come true for such a govt in a desperate situation. will desperate times result in desperate measures ! lets hope not in 2024 but increasing signs are showing otherwise. stay safe!

This is the same scientist who more or less faulted a hotel guest for breathing too much while exercising in his room under quarantine during covid. He also coined the term "selfish masks" when a traveller wore a valve type mask while quarantining. It's hard to take this guy seriously.
