Most Americans: *thinking they’re gonna die*

Californians: 😴

Here in California, we don’t even flinch for anything under 5.

My parents are from Japan, when we had an earthquake (USA) I freaked out and hid under the dinner table, sort of like what school taught me. After collecting my thoughts I looked out from under the table and both my parents were just standing there shaking along with the earth flipping through the tv channels seeing how bad it is and then laughing saying that it’s only a 3.5 mag earthquake 😂

In Chile we act the same than Japan. There is a very well known footage of an 2015 earthquake in which the newsman kept speaking calm and steady during an earthquake as there was nothing happening.

It depends where in the U.S. the closer to the San Andreas fault the more used to earthquakes you are. They happen all the time. California has tons of earthquakes. Also what kind of magnitude 2 earthquake shakes a table. I wouldn’t even notice that lying flat floor.

I really believe that you Japanese are doing this, everyone is afraid of an earthquake

Japan is so used to it that they don't even think a earthquake is that powerful.

I lived in California where Earthquakes are about as common as Japan, so they didn't really bother anybody. People in other states where Earthquakes don't happen always find that weird that we didn't worry about them

As someone who lived in Japan for 7 years the people here are so dramatic you ain’t dying from a little earthquake

bro im from japan and i agree, but the video you guys saw is not most of people like that, most of Japanese people just relax bit they get shock i little when usa they shock alot so this is the difference about u.s and japan, (I recommend you to feel the earthquake before going under cover in table, if the earthquake is okay you can just relax and get focus on what you are doing, no need to get down when earthquake is small)

California gets over 100 earthquakes per day. Most go unnoticed but several are a 3.0 or bigger everyday. About 20 earthquakes a year measuring 4.0 or higher. As far as freaking out, depends if I'm on the 50th floor or ground level or driving.

I’m going to a bit blunt… not far off 😂. But we, USA, have some crazy weather so most of the time those that freak out are new to that type of natural disaster. Just like someone who moves to Florida and isn’t used to Hurricanes won’t understand why everyone is nonchalant and have beer parties 😂 (that’s how the stores get sold out of bottled water, panic shoppers.)

In New York my coworkers didn't believe it was an earthquake because they've never experienced it before
