The enemies felt underwhelming overall. Revanent Rangers felt insignificant, with relatively low health, armor and damage, they felt comparable to cult accolytes. Banewolves and specters could be threatening, but were so easy to counter regardless of strategy that they hardly impacted my strategy. Revenant Soulcallers and Harvesters do not exist, as far as I know - they are countered so easily by almost any strategy and/or basic micro, and even if you let them slip they don't do much - they feel like a downgrade compared to some of the 3rd area enemies.
Deathwood is actually interesting, but it doesn't really require much strategy to defeat, and its ability only improves the micro difficulty more than the strategy difficulty.
They do have 2 really good enemies though: Dust Cryptids added a very interesting and fun layer of strategy to the gameplay, in my opinion, and encourage finding precise tower placements and micromanagement. Animated Armor is really well designed in my opinion, because it adds a really unique layer to your strategy - the most optimal strategy to deal with most other enemies was to kill them as early as possible, but animated armor punishes you for doing so, and actually encourages different strategies or micro approaches, which was a breat of fresh air. It's a shame it was barely used, and that it was tied to specters that are very easy to deal with on their own, such a wasted potential. So while I really liked these 2 enemies, the rest of them just didn't hit the mark for me, and ultimately that's why I felt unsatisfied with the enemies overall.

they changed that one RNG upgrade that you once complained about.

3:06 That's just how the entire series work with almost all areas/environments though. Stages in areas have almost always looked very similar to each other when it comes to scenery.

I agree with the Vez'nan stuff, In Kr1 when we first met him, He looked so menacing and cool, but now, It just doesn't feel the same, like he got too silly

I would say that the mini-campaign was overall great. Looking at the overall quality of elite stages this is definitely within the upper half of them. So when you said it didn’t surprise greatly or disappoint greatly I was taken aback a little, since usually when that is said it implies mediocrity. I really enjoyed all the stages, the first stage was a great introduction as it introduced some of the most important enemies. The rangers, specters, banewolves, and dust cryptids. Rangers are the “canon fodder” units meant to easy in the early waves but since they revive into specters that means there are always going to enemies on the board which means you need good aoe effects or else the tanky enemies will have inflated hp values, specters are important because they are always there whether it be in waves or through death/summon which makes them constant meatshields, therefore making them have resistances is actually detrimental. At most maybe like a 10% magic resistances or so specifically for eldritch channlers. Dust cryptids are the flying enemy so obviously important but the dust is such an annoying mechanic that it forces you to change your strategy on the macro and micro level, you have to anticipate them but adapt to them when they arrive because they don’t always place the dust when they die. And the banewolves are the fast enemy that puts constant pressure on your towers and diverts attacks, quite simple like the rangers but still very important. It makes it so that the other enemies are much more of a threat and keeps you having to adapt, which the intro stage complements and the further stages do. The ascetics are also great mainly because it’s a call back to previous Halloween elite stages but does its own thing. It has a similar color palette throughout the landscape itself and also the mini-campaign, which is a criticism itself if it wasn’t for the fact that all Halloween stages did somewhat the same, the original and vengeance are the most apparent as frontiers is actually less egregious.
Yeah I may have ranted a bit but I honestly liked this mini-campaign a lot and I really love the design philosophy of it, even though it can easily be deterred by using top tier heroes (dragons live forever in the meta)

on that stage with the elven warrior dudes, I was so shook when they were gone. I legit was stunned like" oh... okay" and what had me shook probably the most, is when bonehearts path was being flooded. I was questioning what is this level 😂😂

Oh yeah I also found something new about the Arivan boss fight, apparently the specters also can interact with the environment.

When a specter gets close to Arivan they can sacrifice them self to heal Arivan for a small amount of health, just found out during my fourth playthrough of the stage.

i do disagree with a bit of your points here (ex. i think the enemy composition/design overall is great, as the interactions the specters have with Animated Armors, Harvesters, and Navira is pretty unique). I do agree about specters though, during testing we had asked them to give specters some Magic Resist, but sadly they didn't. Good video though, despite the high criticism you do carry your points nicely which i can respect.

Very good video, just like the original alliance review! Although I’d like to give my own perspective on more subjective things.
I really enjoy the environment. Yes, I *suppose* it could be more evil looking, buts it beautiful yet a bit haunting at the same time. The hues of blue really do it for me.
Second, the story. I think the story in alliance, specifically the main campaign, is perfect! Well, no, not perfect as I have very mixed feeling about the ending with vez’nan. But through the teasers, to the wild beasts, cult, void, and then overseers, I think it was executed very well. Also I don’t mind vez’nan being a little on the goofy side as long as they don’t overdo it. Sure, he is menacing in his own special way but I’ve always viewed him as kind of a silly character. However, his brief appearance at the cutscene at the end; I didn’t like. Like, what does he mean “for now” As he peers behind a tree. That being said he always does bring a smile to my face even if he is evil. In other words, as long as Iron hide doesn’t flanderize Vez’nan by keeping a good balance between evil and goofiness.

The balance changes are nice, no complaints there, but give me more Torres buffs! I promise I am totally not biased whatsoever. Don’t look at my profile picture that has nothing to do with it.

And finally, I have not yet watched the pirate kings video, but holy hell I love the corsair brotherhood so much! Easily my favorite faction. Black throne was my Torres before Torres and I love him, especially when my college mascot is also a Corsair! Hopefully ironhide will once again grant my wishes and prayers by bringing back the Corsair brother hood to fight against their long time rivals; the deep devils. Seriously it’s perfect with them being reminiscent of cosmic lovecraftian horror.

Ok I went on a bit of a tangent there, but again, this is a great video. I will watch your YouTube career with great interest. Consider myself a new subscriber!

The first 3 games needed a tactical genius to win 3 stars in veteran on advanced levels, and the strategy component was much more profound, complex, and elegant, just like a math problem, you needed to figure out the correct way to solve it, if you did, everything would fall into place beautifully and the battle is yours, if you didn't you are living on borrowed time.

Besides from that, everything felt serious and real including the art and story, and it really felt as if you are truly fighting a brutal war for your life.

However, in alliance the strategy component is much more subtle and simple, as brute force replaces a substantial part of it, there is no elegancy, nor real complex thinking involved into the strategy, just simple choke points laid out for your comfort, or just spamming of OP towers that oblitirate everything.

Besides that, the game lacks seriousness and gravitas that were so profound in the first 3, everything feels like its merely a theatrical play and not a real battle, as you see demon lords fighting with towels and silly lines said by your soldiers and heroes, without any weight and power behind those lines, and the towers and heros designs were just absolutly silly and ridiculous for many units, the game feels like a "kingdom rush kids" rather than a classic kingdom rush.

Vengeance had similar problems as well but they were more subtle than in alliance.

Yet another nice video from the Holland. I enjoyed the levels and Bonehart but Stregi is very underwhelming.

I didn’t like the aesthetic of the dlc, the enemies, or the witch hero but it was a great challenge I struggled 100%ing it more than the pirate dlc on impossible. Also loved the connections to origins

I find stregi cute but yeah I agree with you, I hope in future alliance updates we will have more badass heroes with more awesome designs like isfet or jun’pai from vengeance.

Boneheart still stays the same, he excels dealing with large amounts of enemies but struggles a bit when dealing with single ones.

This might be a hot take, but i like that Vez’nan is evil for the sake of being evil, nowadays there is way too much villains who tried to be deep or having “sad backstories 😢😭😭”, Vez’nan being evil because he wants to actually makes him more simple to follow and like, i mean the internet liked jack horner from puss n boots the last wish because he is evil for the sake of being evil.

The Long bows? Yeah they’re fine I guess.I wish we can get towers that act like the elven barracks from origins being able to do ranged attacks and having good stalling powers(please please PLEASE don’t make them only having 2 units if they decided to add a barrack like this)

The campaign is great, it went by fast but it’s challenging and surprisingly replayable, i liked the enemy who summons specters he seems awesome.

I also hope iron hide can make a skip button for the cutscenes, they already did it in iron marines 2 and junkworld, so I hope They could also do it here to.

Yesterday I defeated the dlc in veteran using vesper and the venom guy that says it’s morphing time
I lost 4 times in the first level because I wanted 3 stars and defeated the boss in the first try after the paladins literally save my life while the mages molten the boss (inches to the exit)

Yeah I don’t agree with you - I think it’s great they’re not taking themselves too seriously. Respect your points thougj

Stregi the Witch is such a disappointment 😥. Twilight tower, on the other hand, feels unique and really fun to play with. Personally, I like this update. It provides us some new features, like corrupting our own towers, that gives a lot more stragetic decisions to be done.

Also, credits to the author 😊. Somehow, your voice keeps me engaged through the whole video and it simply pleasure to listen to ;)
