I'd agree if I could afford the caliber of apartment she's living in. Cheap apartments are a completely different universe from costly apartments.

In her book one thing she said that while in therapy her therapist had asked about the home and she had said there was always, always something to be fixed. And that it was so big it made her feel lonely. I can’t imagine having a massive house, be responsible for everything and be alone. That sounds depressing.

She mentioned in her book that there were people working on her house like the whole time she lived there. The contractors would fix something, but then they would "find something else" so it was like her house kept breaking. I think she was getting fucked over and they were scamming her. She was a very young adult without any family to give her advice, and due to her relationship with her mom, she was someone who was very easy to manipulate and take advantage of. I don't blame her for hating owning a home after going through that crap though

Fun fact the same house she’s talking about is worth 2.7 million today

This works when you already have a lot of money, lol.

She’s not wrong. People underestimate the amount of maintenance required on a home, especially older homes.

She is the kind of person who does not want to be bothered by finance and chores. She would rather pay up for rent and has less headache. If I were single, I would 100% live in an apartment too.

Especially if you're single, the sheer emptiness and quietness of a large house must've been incredibly lonely and isolating

Dealing with maintenance for apartment complex is different at every location. I lived in a 1 bedroom $900 a month, and they took care of everything that went wrong. While a buddy of mine lived in a $1, 800 1 bedroom and he complained about maintenance and office management being terrible. The higher doesn't guarantee better service. While the lower pay doesn't guarantee bad service. It's truly hit or miss in any pay range.

In her book, she even talks about how she always had a contractor over working on something. She did MAJOR value-add and whoever convinced her to sell for $900k should be arrested.

As a current home owner and former renter, I can say I would never wanna go back to renting for the fact of not having controls over my home.

I was a renter and they wouldn't even let me borrow the water hose to wash my bike, and anything turned into a warning. No thanks!

guys, she’s not saying that this is the better option. she’s simply saying that this is what works for her. it’s not that complicated

She is right, but now my mortgage is much lower than rent. The house next to me was being rented out for $3k/month. What people are charging for rent is insane.

She is not lying! I'm a first-time homeowner as of last year, I love that I did it for my kids as generational wealth but there's a lot of maintenance and upkeep that you have to pay for, and taxes and insurance is constantly going up

She must be one of the few people with a good landlord

I partly understand. Being single with no kids, a big house isn’t necessary. But with her money, any house maintenance and upkeep can definitely be done the next day. Just hire someone to come do it quickly. I just hate apartments, but I’m sure she’s in a very luxurious one with amazing amenities… as she should.

I LOVE living in a house, no random banging noises, no bed bugs, no roaches, further away from trashy neighbors, and I can play my music as loud as I want, work on my car away from everyone, have pets if I want. Pretty much do whatever I want it's so awesome. The only next thing I want is a fence to block out everyone even more.

Context matters. This chick was living in a million dollar condo. It seems she likes being cater to. This is not the real world.
