She's earned every right to express how she feels, her mom was horrific. For her to die & never be able to harm her again was probably a huge relief & closure she needed.

The audiobook of I’m Glad My Mom Died is incredible. Jeanette McCurdy exposes the truth about a wound many of us have.

I'm 52 this year and I just now realized that my mom is a mean mother. She was good to friends but not to me or my sisters. We mostly laugh but it was through telling our stories to our children that we, my sisters and I, have revealed the level of meanness as abuse.

I had a friend who shamed me for the way I spoke about my abusive parent. I tried to explain to them that the mistreatment occurred behind closed doors, when no one was watching or listening. They didn’t believe me. It hurt me to know that even when I spoke the truth, it would be seen as me being an ungrateful child.

Jennette had every right to express her feelings. Her mother and Dan Schneider were 2 horrible people who made her life miserable and she deserves to spend her future unharmed by them. That book was an emotional rollercoaster knowing what she’s been through.

I feel like the people who don’t quite understand the title should wonder what made her write such a powerful statement before judging her.

Because you’ve got to have very strong reasons to be glad your mom died. No one says that jokingly.

Her intelligence never ceases to amaze me. She is wise beyond her years.

You do not owe an abuser anything, even your love and respect.

Had a friend in 8th grade who made it onto a popular NBC sitcom in the early 90s. We were about 11 yrs old, and I never ever saw him gain after about 2 yrs. His uncle was my basketball coach, and he just said that his parents literally had been waiting for this since he was born. HE was their golden goose!

People seeing the title as 'joking " can't ever grasp the trauma caused by an abusive mother
