You missed capture in the video that the other Puchacz was being towed unusually down the N side of that 09 strip, thus reducing take off and landing options. We could have launched the glider but for the N side obstruction! So the PIC landed fine. Sorry about the coffee SIr.

The Puchacz two-seater has a big wide cockpit, and a substantial nose and instrument panel. This means visibility below the glider under the nose is limited by substantial blind arcs. Gliding Australua and Club SOPs require obstacles to be cleared by a substantial margin, 1-1.5 wingspans at least - but with those blind arcs below this can be difficult to judge, and a bit of sinking air or too much airbrake can erode those margins. So SOPs also require us to avoid directly overflying obstacles, to offset the approach path to one side to avoid and improve visibility of obstacles. That’s the issue of concern here, hence the commentary. We instructors are supposed to set an example, demonstrate the airmanship standards. So yes, the counselling has a place. We want everyone to have super fun, safely.
