Показать описание
Are you unsure about the future of your marriage? Here are some tips to help you explore the difference between separation and divorce.
Transcript:
Are you currently facing a tough decision about the future of your marriage?
In today’s video I’m going to show you how to educate yourself about your options, and take the time to mentally and emotionally explore Separation vs Divorce.
First, there is the question that you must answer: “Is it salvageable?” Are you and your spouse willing to save your marriage? If your marriage hasn’t achieved “War of the Roses” status, then it is probably salvageable.
Many U.S. states require a “cooling off” period between filing for divorce, and making the divorce final. A separation can offer the same opportunities and can have many benefits such as, a legal separation document. This can define the legal rights and responsibilities of each person and may include parental, financial, or medical responsibilities.
One benefit to separation is that medical benefits can be retained during this time, as well as social security benefits. In the divorce settlement, you should be most concerned about financial security. Parental responsibilities, health insurance, the marital home, college expenses, and cost of living expenses all should be carefully considered.
One of the main reasons separation and divorce is so difficult is the huge strain it puts on people’s emotional and physical health. Anger, guilt, fear, anxiety, and grief will wreak havoc on your life. To help you deal with the turbulent storm of emotions that come in, it is very beneficial to have a counselor or life coach to talk to during this time. Also I recommend avoiding discussing the details with your close friends or family. In the event that you reunite with your spouse, you don’t want these angry words to come back and haunt you.
