Lets be honest here, we all know banana grip is superior to overhand underhand and neutral grip

It's amazing how even his rants are somehow positive

Banana grip IS actually a thing at my gym! Lol in the calisthenics area there are these two plastic, banana-shaped handles that hang from chains which you can do pull-ups

I really appreciate that your channel has advice for everyone out there, I've actually been doing calisthenics to try and help with my joint hypermobility syndrome. (I've been very very careful lol) I've definitely seen improvement within myself, thank you!

Underhand pull-ups are called also called chin-ups because they are often used as a metric in fitness tests where pull-ups are only counted once the chin passes the bar, hence the term chin-up.

Hey Hampton, here in Brazil we call pull ups as "barra fixa" wich means something like "fixed bar" (because we move ourselfs, not the bar) and the way we call them already express under and overhand grips. "Barra pronada" = pull up, "barra supinada" = almost literally overhand pull up. Chin ups is a thing only in english. Personally i always thought that chin up is a little odd name.

You are a shining beam of positivity. So happy to know you are in the world and see you from time to time. You have a beautiful day, my friend!

Huh, in Russian chin-ups literally called "reverse-grip pull-ups", подтягивания обратным хватом

This went from tips to a rant and it somehow still sounded just as nice

Still got a long way to go until I can do one legit pull up.

I can only hang for a few seconds at best on a bar but knowing I started from not being able to hang on at all it's some nice progress.

Really glad I've discovered this channel!

I've always been able to do underhand pull-ups. Did lots of them in the Marines. I've NEVER been able to do overhand. Well...maybe three max. I can do heavy weight on lat pulldowns. My back is strong. Just can't do overhand.

BTW, those one handed pullups are impressive! Stay well friend.

Indeed its overstated and it's a huge oversimplification.

All the variations will target your back if done correctly. None will target your biceps "more", one simply can't curl one's bodyweight with a small muscle like the biceps.
The pull up in whatever variation is single handedly the best back exercise there is and will activate the entire back.
It's a compound movement and shouldn't be thought of as an isolation exercise.

Overhand activates more the upper portion of the lats, middle deltoid and forearm.
Underhand and neutral will emphasize the lower portion of the lats and will involve the biceps.

I love the tangent at the end, definitely agree with you though 😂

Worked out my biceps for like 2 years before I hit the gym, so underhand is so much easier. But because of my biceps being strong, I notice some back working too
