I have my own idea:
Marvel did it, DC did it, hey even Crash did it, so it’s about dang time that Nintendo explores multiverse. Well, that happens in Super Marioverse. With Bowser defeated and branched timelines being created, a new enemy has occurred. Evil Mario emerges and is out for revenge and is a multiversal threat. Mario must explore these new universes to build a team of allies. Mad scientist Mario, Superhero Mario, Zombie Mario, Chef Mario, Alien Mario, you name it, it exsists.
