Why Americans Love Living In Seoul South Korea!

As an American living in Seoul South Korea, there are so many reasons why I choose to live in Korea rather than living in the United States. The cost of living in Seoul South Korea is so low compared to the United States makes it a no brainer to stay in South Korea. After living in South Korea for almost 14 years, it would be difficult for me to return to the United States to live there after living under the convenience and safety of South Korea. Being Black in South Korea is not what I expected, but in a good way that it is impossible to leave here!

I love Seoul and Korea so much, which is why I have been here for 14 years and will probably live here much longer! Is it a place where you could live?!

I'm somewhat similar, I am from USA having come to Korea intending to live here for just one year, but I've ended up living here for 17 years now.
And I want to continue living in Korea in the future. With Korean culture and K-pop becoming famous lately, many foreigners have become interested in Korea.
Consequently, you often see comments from foreigners who have never been to Korea, judging Korea based on their own standards and even portraying Koreans negatively.
It's as if their own country is perfect.

I've lived in the USA, Japan, and Korea, and Korea was the safest, most enjoyable, and fun country for me.
People who judge Korea simply based on what they see in K-dramas, making various evaluations about Korea without visiting,
remind me of how Koreans might judge the USA after watching American dramas—thinking everyone in America carries guns, does drugs, and might get shot at school, which is absurd.

One unique aspect of Korea is that Koreans don't hide their flaws and even include them in dramas for the whole world to see.
They bring out even the darkest parts of history and turn them into movies.
There aren't many countries with such freedom.
I think if anyone wants to live in Korea, they need to respect Korea and make an effort to learn Korean.
I enjoy watching your videos. :)

No gun, No pickpocket, No thief and 24 hours opened convenient store and digitally well established public transportation with cheap costs in S.Korea.

Been to Seoul twice, and always felt more at home there than in the states. Particularly for a woman, the safety of the country is so liberating. My daughter and I could take leisurely strolls at night, leave our purses unattended at restaurant tables, ride the subways without fear or disgust from some incident occurring. Oh, and everything's sparkling clean there, too (with the exception of a couple of party neighborhoods at night, but they're immaculate again by 8:00 a.m.). Koreans pick up after themselves, maintain spotless public bathrooms, emanate quiet and calmness, and prioritize outdoor beautification. All this in a city of now 10 million residents who know how to conduct themselves properly, take pride in their surroundings, and respect others. Cultural shock only set in upon my return to the states, where during our drive home, we encountered trashed streets, beggars, homelessness, graffiti, and wondered where America went wrong.

Korea is just super pleasant, affordable, and convenient to live in. This is the reason why I have stayed for so long and why I will be here for much longer. Is it a country where you could live?!

Decided to move to Seoul 4 months ago, after many trips here from the US. The convenience (and yeah, the food 😅) just does it for me! Enjoyed the thoughtful video - well said!

Korea is one of very few countries that has high salary, low/mid cost of living. That is why the standard of living is quite good in Korea.

I subscribed today. I am a Korean American. You seem gentle, well mannered, well educated, logical, and smart person. The way you described about Korea and Korean people was thoughtful and well said. I agree with your thought about Korea. I miss everything about living in Korea. Thank you.

there are good and bad in all countries. The living in Korea is very convenient because you can find almost everything that you need in a walking distance. Also, it is very safe. and most of Koreans are kind to the foreigners.

Hello Francois, your video popped up on my feed today and I enjoyed your perspective on living in Korea. As a Korean-American living in SoCal for the last 50 years, I can you tell you that my dream is to live in Korea once I retire. American Dream is no longer attainable for vast majority of the populace and the cost of living is and will continue to spiral out of control here.

I wish you much success in all your endeavors and continue being positive in your outlook, godspeed.

I'm Korean and we have things that we really don't like but in terms of public services such as transportation and health care I think our government use our tax really good. Basically government pays half of our public transportation and we pay some (not that much) for our health care tax and our medical service is one of the best in the world and we pay like 3 dollars when we go to hospital for small things and when you get like serious problem such as cancer heart attack etc, your hospital bill which is already cheap compare to the rest of the world reduce down to 10 percent. Government pays 90 percent of the hospital bill for the serious problems. I remember I broke my arm in US and my bill came down to 9 thousand dollars and Thank GOD I had a travelers insurance.

I lived in Seoul in 1982 and 83. Was incredible! Back when it jad so much more charm and authenticity. Nice now but not the same. It was truly an adventure back then
