A lot of videos by Americans on why they are living in Poland focus on the surprising way they found themselves adjusting to life in Poland…

Which is a little different than I found my way into living in Poland, so I figured I’d throw my hand in with some thoughts on living in Poland vs. USA…

And provide you with 7 reasons why Americans love life in Poland vs. The USA.

More LIFE IN POLAND Videos As An AMERICAN:

TIMESTAMPS:

0:00 Introduction
1:12 Safety
2:45 Minding Your Business
4:15 The “Old Country” Feeling
5:41 Work To Live… Not Live To Work
6:49 Family & Friends Over Career
8:05 Closeness of The Cities
9:28 Economics

---------------------

1. Safety

When comparing living in Poland vs. the USA, the first thing to take note is the differences in safety in day to day life.

Now of course this is just one measure of safety but even living in Poland as an American it seems much safer.

2. Minding Your Business

Living in Poland vs. the USA means that you are less likely to have people "in your business", meaning less likely to bother you when you're just trying to live your life.

Americans are very friendly and out going, but they also can be very nosy and overwhelming due to their individualism.

3. The "Old Country" Feeling

Many Americans have roots (ancestry) in European countries or in the American South, which both have an "old country" feel to them.

Therefore, many Americans enjoy the "Old Country" feeling that life in Poland can bring.

4. Work To Live, Not Live To Work

Americans often are overworked and their job is everything to them.

Life in Poland often feels much more relaxed and it seems as far as living in Poland vs. the USA goes... people here "work to live... not live to work".

5. Family and Friends Over Career

Living in Poland vs. USA means that you will meet many people who are more loyal and engaged with their family than in the USA where career seems to come first and then family and friends are second.

Unfortunately the USA has recently become much less family oriented over the last couple of generations.

6. Closeness of Cities

The fact that you can get from Warsaw to Krakow in a couple of hours, or Krakow to Wroclaw in 3 hours, or Poznan to Gdansk in four hours is AMAZING to Americans.

It would take a 3 day train ride to get from New York to Los Angeles.

7. Economics

We do understand that living in Poland vs. USA has many economic factors and it's annoying when Americans just call life "cheap" or "affordable" in Poland without considering the exchange rate, currencies, and economic factors. So we also wanted to list this here as well to be fair and realistic.

I moved from LA to Poland & I have to say that despite of the culture differences & customs it's a really nice place to live. The safety aspect is just so nice. To be able to go out and not worry about being mugged at any time of the day is just such a great feeling. A lot of ppl now speak English in big cities so it's not hard to get thjngs done or getting to places. The food is amazing & there is a lot of natural scenery everywhere. The old towns are so rich of history and architectural beauty. Specially churches. There are also a lot of beautiful people everywhere, not just physically but also generous and kind. Of course not everything is perfect like weather & wages, (though is manageable) but its definitely much better than other countries in europe or the world. For those who can visit Poland and experience it's beauty! You won't regret it!

I was born in Poland, I am Polish, I did work in 4 different continents, but I did not find another beautiful country as POLAND. I am very happy, and grateful that you like my Poland so much.

I went to Warsaw back in May 2019 with my Univeristy class. Best trip ever. The Poles are warm and happy. I remember sitting with a lot of poles and ukraines back at the hostel drink vodka and talking, we did not discuss politics, we talked about good bears and good things to see in Warsaw.

Yes! Everything you said here is why I love Poland so much and look forward to the day when I can finally make it my home. I don’t have any Polish roots either, but that didn’t stop me from falling in love with the country when I first visited in 2019. I just returned from a European vacation in which 12 wonderful days were spent in beautiful Poland (my third time there), and I’m already planning my return. I would move there permanently right now if family obligations didn’t require me to stay in the US for the foreseeable future.

I was born in Poland, currently living in Australia for about 38 years now and planing to return for my retirement. I have missed that "old country feeling" as you have mentioned and overall quality of life might be more affordable.
Also missed the Polish food and many picturesque parts of the country that I would like to explore again.
I hope your process of assimilation in your new county will be a smooth one and all the best for the future.🍷

To me, the quality of life in Poland is much higher than in America. And I’ve lived in the most desirable parts of CA.

One of the most prominent countries in Central Europe, Poland is filled with rich history, some dating as far back as the first century. A country often overlooked by travelers, Poland is home to countless historic structures, a vast Baltic shoreline, hills and lakes formed in or around the Pleistocene Ice Age, and flora and fauna species that may not be found anywhere else in the European continent.

Pozdrawiam

Point 2-I'm shocked! You are the first American person I've heard who appreciates the lack of sugary friendliness and never ending positivity which we see as artificial (generally, there are always exceptions) . Yes, we don't tend to smile at strangers without any reason, we hardly ever engage in conversations with fellow passers-by because we respect privacy not because we are gloomy and suspcious.

I’m a Pole living in US and also in Poland. US is now simply a wealthy third world country and Poland is now a first world country. All that flipped in just 30 years. Serwus!

I would choose Poland a thousand times over the US. I'm very privileged to live in Germany at the moment, but I've just returned from a trip to Wrocław, and there is nothing cold about the people there.

Well, Polish people might seem cold and not too friendly on the outside, but once we get to know you, we will welcome you more than anyone else. I live in Ireland and Irish people are the opposite: they are much more friendly when you meet them, but if you want to become closer with them, there is this wall they won't let you through.

I love Poland because the country is very conservative/traditional, the people there are very patriotic/nationalistic, the country has a very rich history/culture/traditions and Polish women are very beautiful.

One more important reason. It is also close to other European cities. For example, from Wrocław by car we will get to Prague in 4 hours, and Berlin in 4 hours. We will reach other countries by plane in less than 4 hours.
