How I am Chasing My Log Home Dream

I always dreamed of building my own log home, and I decided to start at 21 years old with no experience and a bunch of other reasons that made it sound like a bad idea. There is always a thousand reasons not to start a big dream but I ignored them all and I am very glad I did. I wanted to talk about that in this video and answer many of the big questions that you guys ask me.

Welcome to Traplines and Inlines

I have the pleasure of sharing my passions for the wilderness, building, fixing and all other things interesting with my great group of Youtube friends.

I have lived offgrid in the bush for over 3 years, but now I am moving to the next chapter in my life and am building a big log home as my next place to live. It is going to be an incredible journey building my own home. I am using logs I harvested myself and plan to do most of the work by myself. This project will be the main focus of my channel, with many other adventures along the way im sure!

Thank you for watching

So let me get this straight. You're 23 years old and own a custom built, hand scribed log cabin that's probably 70-80% complete. Worth somewhere between a quarter and a half a million dollars. And you've developed the skills and knowledge to replicate this many times over. If you could put together a small crew to help you and cut down the time it would take, any one (that could afford what you're worrh)would be honored to have you build them a home. Dude, I'm not sure you realize how AWESOME you are.

I started watching an ambitious, 17 yr old High School kid with big dreams and I'm now enjoying a 23 yr old man making his dreams come true. Congratulations my friend. Its been a pleasure to be on this journey with you.

I spent 12k on solar,
I’ve got 2 6500 watt inverters, a LI battery, and 10 solar panels.
6500 watts split phase, 13, 000 on demand.
My battery charges in about 90 minutes via the sun,
And about 2 hrs via predator generator.
I burn a bit of fuel in the winter, but not too much.
And I don’t really run out of power.
Ever!!
It’s been just 1 year and I’m confident it’ll last several years.
I went with Signature Solar fyi.
Really enjoyed the “bush” and your coyote and wolf trapping.
I’m not surprised you’re killing the log home!!
Deadly!!
✌️😎

I’m 74 yrs old. I am retired from Wisconsin Dept of Corrections, Probation & Parole. We then moved to Illinois to be near our son and his wife. I felt the need to continue helping others & found a part-time job at a college close to my home. So many students do not know what their end goal is. I am amazed by your accomplishments and ambition at such a young age. You have proven you can do anything you set your mind to do. I watch Ken’s Carpentry in Canada. His crew builds the homes in sections and then transports to the site. Totally enjoy your channel.

I think by now you must realize that most of us do not think you are crazy. We continue to return video after video because you inspire us. We all have goals which can sometimes be overwhelming. You continue to show us that with determination and focus, it can be done. Thank you for taking us along.

Kyle you have a dream so live it your way. You are not crazy for working and creating a life for yourself, you are young and have a strong mind and great craftsmanship skills.

One of my biggest regrets in life was to reach nearly 50 before I came round to this way of thinking, no longer have the energy or health to do something on this scale.

Well done for tuning into what is important in life while you are in a position to do it.

Anyone who thinks you are "crazy" is the one with the mental problem, not you. No need for you to worry. You've got a good head on your shoulders.

I've watched your channel for about 5 years. I've never had the impression that you're impulsive with your decisions. You aren't crazy, you're learning as you go and taking risks for the right reasons. I look forward to the next phase of your building project.

You have accomplished so much in your23 years and your “can do” attitude is the best quality that you have, in my opinion. If I had you as my son I would be very proud. Keep working to fulfill all of your dreams!
