Very cool. I hope they can work out how to get decent revs with such a high displacement and unfortunate natural vibrations.
Would be amazing to have something of a hotrod engine that's so damn compact, easy to work on, and even fuel efficient. Might even increase the amount of young people getting into the hobby!

Would love GM to build a new S10 mini pickup truck around this engine. Maybe even bring back some compact RWD platform like the Vega, Monza, Solstice and Fiero!

Well, the K series had a good run being swapped into older Honda’s. Pretty sure this will start being swapped into everything now 😂

You can tell the block is a 4 cylinder version of the Jeep 4.0l straight 6 with an ls head, Pretty cool!! Its gonna be the deepest tone 4cyl around. I think its going to even be deeper sounding than the Subaru WRX's

The GM 3.0L 4cyl, which is the base engine this is from, is an industrial engine. Tow motors for airport tugs are it's primary use. Minus the LS head, of course. Low rpm, long stroke and high torque.

Would love to see these come out, considering the v8 ls are damn near bullet proof these should be just as good.

For 3.6 liters of displacement it's exterior dimensions seem extremely compact. Nice thing about pushrod engines . Wonder if it would physically fit in my SX4 that I had?

Ide like to know how the valve are operated. It must be a pushrod but where is the cam located. and how does such a large 4 cylinder deal with the balance issues?

This is GM's industrial 3.0L that's been around since the 60's. You can find them in boats with Volvo and Mercury Inboard-outboard drives. I'm wondering if whatever they did to fit the LS head is easily replicable at home.
