K20s and K24s are great motors, either bone stock or modded to the max. I loved my K24a4 and K24z3

My dad built an 800 hp b18 that lasted three years before blowing up. Stock block just sleeved and bored out for oversized pistons and skunk2 cams and a 68/68 turbo

I have an 06 EVO mr moded and it sits at about 600awhp with a sequential and an 08 cobalt SS turbo with the lnf ecotec. I drive the SS the most and it only has 89k on it. Full bolt on with the 6758 zfr turbo with Werks upgraded transmission internals. Both on flex fuel. The SS sits at just over 540whp. I drive both fairly hard but I am anal about constant oil, transmission, coolant changes along with new plugs every other oil change and air filter. lve never had issues out of either. I love the 4g but my next favorite is the lnf. The lnf is extremely torquey for a 2 liter, a lot more torque then the 4g. I normally have the SS tuned at 419whp and the torque is about 431ftlbs. The SS don’t get traction on the street until you’re in 4th and then it pulls. It pulls harder then my mr in the higher gears even though it’s less power. Both are very easy to drive in the city but love to be on the highway. Would love to convert the SS to all wheel drive. The way the power is delivered I think the SS would walk the evo even though it’s less power simply because the power curve is much broader and is strong in the low, mid and high rpm range.

The Mitsubishi 4g93 also a really good engine, not as good as it's bigger brother but still great

The Toyota 3SGE/3SGTE was a great engine. We just didnt get it in very many cars in the US.

Ka24de, criminally underrated motor. Everyone was so swap happy back in the days that it got overlooked.

For once there’s people who know what they’re talking about. The B series (specifically the b20) was indestructible. Me and a friend had a turboed b20 first gen integra. It would just keep eating any power you gave it. Hell of a machine. We drove that thing till the rust ate it

And the final boss that checks everything on the list. Build, blow, rebuild the next day with pocket change. The D series. It’s why I stoped working as a tech and took my ass straight to college for engineering. Now I work for VAGOA. Honestly it’s the engine I recommend for everyone to start on with OBD2. Lots of room to improve and an ape can assemble. Second is an air cooled boxer.
