These LS swaps are getting out of hand… I love it

When your 4 banger has more displacement than a v6 with half the weight. I bet it sounds unreal!

To everybody speculating that this engine block is based on a Chevy 6 cylinder, read the sign behind the display engine. It says, "external dimensions similar to a 3.0 liter GM". No cylinder removal is necessary if you just start with the 4-cylinder block. That engine family was introduced simultaneously as a 153 4-cylinder and a 194 6-cylinder in the 1962 Chevy II. Then in 1963, they introduced a 230 6-cylinder with the same bore and stroke as the 153 along with the tall-deck 292 truck engine, which used the same 3-7/8" bore but increased the stroke from 3-1/4" to 4-1/8". The 6-cylinder was last produced in 2001. The 4-cylinder Vortec 3000 marine and industrial engine with 4" bore and 3.6" stroke was still in production for at least another decade after that. Also note that this is not an Iron Duke, which is a completely unrelated Pontiac engine that was introduced in 1977. History lessons completed, the sign behind the engine also says it has a 9.145" deck height, which is the standard deck height for a 153/194/230/250. The tall deck height of a 292 is 10.875". I would think that a slightly taller deck height, maybe 9.7", would be desirable to allow a 6.25" connecting rod to improve the rod to stroke ratio in this new engine. Whatever the case, it's a completely new aftermarket block based on the Chevy II 4-cylinder, presumably with siamesed cylinder walls. The lifter side covers are gone, and the deck is completely open above the camshaft, so I'm assuming it uses LS lifter carriers, and it obviously has an LS head bolt pattern.

Imagine if they stuck two of these together to make a v8 version of this!!! 😂

If GM knew what they were doing they never would have made the eco tech they would have made this instead 😅

Back in the day, I was involved in hydroplane racing. There was a 150ci class that mostly ran Chevy II motors, injected on methanol. They made right at 300HP. I knew this old mechanic and he modified a Chevy II block to accept a SBC 2.02 FI head. That boat won every time it showed up to a race! He dyno'd one of the motors and it was making 345HP! This motor would put that to shame!

That is PERFECTLY SIUTED for my 94 Miata... Can't forget about a Big turbo along with

The bore will accommodate LS7 heads. I see potential in racing, off road, and all types of swaps. It appears to be built for boost as well.

Miller/Offenhauser Indy race engines had enormous displacement, made big power, and had crossplane cranks. They sounded amazing. Super cool idea for an engine.

This is what GM should have been doing a long time ago.

340hp and only 300lbs... what a nice little package! Although, there are a lot of guys making over 300hp with built K20 engines (2.0L Honda).

If you remember the 2.5 L 4cyl OHV Iron Duke, then you remember the torque it created. Hell, remember them in the mid 80’s Camaros? Hopefully, this new LS-4 will be the new low rpm non-OHC high torque workhorse.

That’s pretty darned cool! I’d put that in my truck just because the aftermarket support for the LS is huge. This would be pretty awesome in a Yota or Ford Ranger.

The bores of each cylinder alone are huge compared to your average 4 bangers, I already see crazy builds with this platform. Hopefully GM puts this in production because Im interested.

These should be the standard in every Legends class race car.

I told my friends I wanted to make this and literally a few days before starting the cad I see this someone beat me to it damn. I was inspired by the engineer working on a v8 k series based engine that uses as many off the shelf parts as possible.

I had a GM 3.0 in my boat before I swapped in a V8. I loved that big torquey 4 banger and I had thrown around the idea of putting an aluminum SBC head on it. Wish I hadn't sold that engine because this video just makes me want to do it more.

This will be perfect for a upgrade for a inboard boat. Pretty sweet.👍👍👍
