Its happened in Orthodox, schools, day cares, friend sleep overs too. Where ever there are people, there is evil.

Im orthodox, i tell you I wouldnt trust ANY man alone with my daughter. In this day and age you have to protect your family even from what may seem like an innocent man. Only God knows the inner workings of the heart, and Im not God. CP's exist in every denomination and in every place on earth. Anywhere evil exists. We have to be cautious and watchful in these very troublesome times.

Long ago a Priest was accused of impropriety with an adult woman. He was immediately flown to be under direct supervision of the Bishop while an investigation was done. It turned out the lady made it up because her brother didn’t get a role in the church. He was reinstated.

A different Priest had a relationship with a teenage girls. When it was discovered the police were notified he was defrocked and went to jail.

Married Priests make a huge difference.

Essentially he said trust me bro. You can’t speak for others, there are surely some for God said even those who know will fall away

The bigger the church, the more sinners there is, and the harder it is to manage them.

I had to break it to you father. However, there’s sin every where even in the Orthodox Church. We have our strengths and please don’t get me started, but we are a beautiful church, but we are not holier than thou.

Abuse happens everywhere for the same reason a sick twisted individual uses their power and influence to take advantage of vulnerable people.

Evil will always attack His Church more than others. It is a constant vigilant fight to get rid of evil inside His Work.

Im Mexican American and like most mexicans, we grew up Roman Catholic, I left the religion because I didnt feel like it fit me and what I believe according to what I would read in the bible, it just didnt match. Lately ive been watching more and more videos on the Orthodox church and ive been studying the religion, i feel like that religion just fits me, like i finally found my place.

It absolutely happens in the Orthodox Church. And it gets covered up. Priests get moved to different parishes and/or diosese and no one is told about it unless you knew what the priest did for yourself. There are more Catholics than Orthodox so of course you hear of more cases in Catholicism. The Orthodox Church in North America is just as complacent about covering its sexual sins. Denying it just adds to the problem!

That's why marriage is a holy union and it's ok for priests to have families. Many of the holy apostles had both wives and children. So I don't understand why it's not allowed in the catholic church. Especially since gay is ok there now

Paedophilia exists through men who are married too, i do not think celibacy is the issue, its everywhere including all churches, schools, sportss team's and in families.

Priests don't become pedophiles, pedophiles become priests..:-/

It is the celebacy. That attracts people who have problems with their sexuality.

The more streamlined and consolidated an organization is, the more likely there is to be a systemic issue. Notice how it’s not reported much in Baptist/Methodist churches, because for the most part those churches are disassociated from each other. But it doesn’t mean that it’s not happening at the same rate in those sects.

To say the Orthodox Church doesn’t have a systemic issue is probably disingenuous…much of the western world isn’t Orthodox, they’re either Roman Catholic or Protestant, so it’s 5-6 times more likely that the Catholic Church is to have a “systemic problem” just due to the number of members and thus churches, parishes, etc

This is basic statistics y’all
