I'm pleased I kept my IC703 and all the accessories... That price seems a little crazy.

Good news. Spotted Outbound Lancaster on your wall, painted by my oldest friend’s father.

Hi Peter, I have a old AKD Garex 6m FM set in the workshop, not much comes out of it usually, but today it sprang into life, scared me to death, anyway I made two contacts, then silence, so I'm going to have invest in a preowned 6 meter ssb unit, the Icom 105 sounds nice for those with deep pockets & no expensive daughters like I have.

I think $1500 US, will be a Show Stopper for the radio. People will still get one, but folks have been saying $1050 for months, this is very high in comparison, time will tell..

Me thinks ICOM's Marketiers have overestimated the IC-705's Marketability. $1600 Smackaroos is a bit Hefty. I think if they had announced it @ $1200, maybe even $1400, pricing wouldn't have been a problem.

After Enthusiasts have had their Fling, the street price will erode to $1000/$1200, with rebates, and become an Indirect Competitor to the IC-7300. I'd love to have a 705. Maybe a used one in a year or two.

In the mean, I'll buy a 7300 next month for less than $900 and use it as my Base/Mobile/Portable rig. I did that with a TS-430 in years past.

If I were a BackPackingDude, I'd pop for a 705 but my Back Don't Pack NutinNoMo.

I may be completely wrong here but I believe they Icom 705 may fall on it's qrp face when people find out they ditched the internal antenna tuner. Buy the Xiegu G90 that very light and has an internal antenna tuner so good it could probably tune up a head of lettuce. It has CW decode, a waterfall and it has an internal antenna analyzer built in and go up to 20 watts or down to 1 watt if you want qrp. for get the 705 that does not have an internal antenna tuner. The Xiegu g90 is a fraction of the cost. I bought mine on sale from radioodity for $450 dollars. It is a dream machine. I love it. But I will say this, I would not mind spending the astronomic price of the icom 705 if they had not been so callous as to have left out the internal antenna tuner. That was a collossal mistake.

While the price does sound a little steep, what is there around to compare it with? I have, and love, a KX3, that doesn’t quite cover the same bands the 705 does (70cms) and I didn’t fit the 2 meter module either. So how important are the other bands to your needs? But, and it is a big but; it’s our hobby and getting out and about for me is really important and enjoyable part of it. Plenty of good HF mobile type radios out there if you don’t have the desire to trek and work SOTA. ICOM have raised the bar with this one and time will tell how well it sells, if initial demand is anything to go by it will sell well. Enjoy your hobby! 73 de M0AZE

Icom shot themselves with this pricing. Im going to cancel my preorder at this price. Honestly shouldn't cost more than 1k usd with all that it offers.

Overpriced radio, no ATU at that price point ? 4m been dropped from it now also. Way too delicate and not even splash proof let alone waterproof, so much for all the misleading rugged mountain trekking advert pics. Overpriced proprietary battery which will prove utterly inadequate in real world use, (hence power specs still not revealed) forcing you to buy more overpriced batteries and in Cartel style, all retailers same fixed price. It's a pass for me on this white elephant, shame it had potential but designed by abacus, not engineering.

Well i am tiring of waiting on Yaesu to put these new radios on our shelves. I dont know if they have told the dealers these were coming and over promised the time line. I would think Yaesu would have these radios out by now. This tells md that they cannot plan tuier production line well or they are being held back by the Japanese gvt. Speculation for sure. Frustrated buyer's wont wait forever.

In the video he said the radio would definitely sell for $1299 pounds. In US Dollars thats is over $1580, OMG Hello Flex is your phone ringing ! Also the Xiegu G90 is only $500 w/ a tuner and it is 20 WATTS! I have one of these jewels and it really is a great little rig. I have owned it for only 3-4 months but no problems at all. Yes it does not do 2m or 70 cm. But I am already $1000 ahead w/ the Xiegu. Spend YOUR money as you please!
