Pros: Respects Operators Power Choice!
Cons: Doesn't TX out of band during scan, making it harder to use as an antenna analyzer.

I noticed that 0% was still transmitting when I was practicing CW and someone started to come back to me.

It’s amazing. Leaves the operator in charge with no restrictions. Know what you are doing of suffer potential consequenses. Thankyou Icom for not babying us.

You're making me wonder about my RigExpert Zoom A-55. I don't have a good low wattage wattmeter though.

Clickbait for sure. It’s a 10W QRP radio. I wouldn’t expect much more than that. Heck if that’s only on “internal” power - 10W is darn good.

My question is for most QRP folks, why would you spend so much on a relatively crippled radio (no internal ATU, proprietary battery, high power consumption) and only 10W on external power when you can spend the same money and get a KX with internal batteries (AA in KX3), internal ATU, milliwatts of power consumption on Rx, and 15W on external power, all in a smaller and more rugged (not plastic) form factor than the 705? The 705 just seems to create more dependencies to lug around (if you’re truly going for portable field use), in that you need tuned antennas or external ATU and a bigger external battery.

Mahalo Steve🤙🏻
I just watched the same test on your G90, it only did 7 watts out of band and your 705 did over 10 watts. My G90 surprises me all the time when I watch your videos!
So for $439 smackeroos two years ago, I’m not disappointed at all. I’d like to see you do more videos of your G90, like how to activate the headphone jack for a external speaker. MAHALO! 🤣😂

Fantastic discovery Steve!.
I'm always turning down the power without even thinking to 0% when testing SWR & logically thought hmm the 705s SWR test knocked the power back automatically.
Openly wondering how long this "bug" has been around for.
Assuming you have the latest v1.34 FW from Icom

i don‘t like the percentage values, like, why is 0% still an output? I like 10watts out for swr measurements since some tuners only start to tune at 10watts, but not below.
differently with the 7300 you showed - 100w swr measurements are nuts.

At least the advertised power is correct.
