How to Install UniFi Controller on Ubuntu Linux

This video shows you how to install the UniFi controller on Ubuntu. I am using an Ubuntu Desktop version but it is better to install it on Ubuntu Server, you can do the same process on Ubuntu Server just us SSH to get in there instead of the Terminal through the GUI.

This script works quite well, just install the pre-requisites and then run the script and you will have a UniFi controller running.

If you want to have a cloud based UniFi controller you can easily spin up an Ubuntu Server instance on Azure and install the UniFi controller on the Azure Hosted Ubuntu server.

Script walks you through the entire process of upgrading unifi controller.
Run the script
asks if you want to back up current controller
Tells you what version you are currently on and if you want to upgrade to latest version
allows you to choose if you want to upgrade only the controller or controller and devices to latest firmware version

MongoDB installation fails.. I did re-imaged and started from scratch twice but it still fails. Can you update your doc? I saw it was updated yesterday but the MongoDB issue is still there. Thanks!

Hello Good Day to you! Thanks for your video.Please help me for my little error.I backup file on my windows 10 unifi controller. I already install unifi scrips on my ubuntu 20.10. but I Can't restore backup file on it. Its said " The backup file you are trying to load is from a newer version of the Unifi Controller and connot be used with this controller". Thanks and best regards.

How should the controller be connected to the network? To a trunk port or a access port? Controller running on a lan.
