maybe this trick will get you through some gate keepers e.g. receptionist. but this trick has its down side. For the bigger companies that I have sold to, the gate keeper e.g. usually the secretary will manage the calendar of the person you are calling and they can see whose name are on there. So they will check your name and if it is not on, they'd ask you "we don't have an appointment here, what is it regarding?" So you still get stuck. Once you make the secretary realize you are bluffing her, you'd ruin your only chance of making her a friend. That is the downside.
