The SHOCKING Reason General Grievous Didn't Use RED Lightsabers - Star Wars

Throughout the Clone Wars, General Grievous fought with a massive array of Blue and Green lightsabers, wreaking havoc across the Galaxy and shredding almost any opponent he came up against. Grievous was initially given the first lightsaber of Jedi-Master Sif-Dyas by Count Dooku, and later began collecting many others as trophies. So why did General Grievous not collect any Red lightsabers?

So, I’m going to breakdown the full story of how General Grievous lost his collection of Red lightsabers and why it absolutely devastated him to the core.

Immediately after completing his training in Lightsaber combat with Count Dooku, Darth Tyrannus gifted the Kaleesh Warlord the original lightsaber of Sifo-Dyas, so that he could begin his work, striking fear into the galaxy for the Separatist alliance.

After this, Grievous began slaughtering anyone he could to expand his collection of lightsabers, keeping them as trophies of his brave success.

Interestingly, General Grievous did somehow manage to get his hands on a collection of blood Red, Sith Lightsaber blades, cherishing them as one of his most prized possessions.

Unfortunately for Grievous however, he was forced to become a cyborg sometime after his gathered this collection, following his brutal and horrific ship crash, putting him completely on the sidelines for a long period of time. Some time after his transformation into a cyborg however, Grievous was furious to learn that the two Dark Jedi twins named Kaa and Lii had stolen his collection of bright red, sith Lightsabers and were using them for themselves.

Grievous was soon able to locate and track down the location of the two Dark sisters, before rushing into his personal ship, the soulless one and setting course for the acidic world of Dica.

After Grievous ragefully landed his ship on the acidic planes of Dica, Grievous managed to spot the two dark Jedi, rushing towards them with rage and fury. Grievous managed to split the sisters apart, and demanded that one of them reveal their names and threatened to slaughter them both, but before either of them could answer, the two twins came together and viciously severed a part of General Grievous’ mask, with his own red lightsabers, giving them the upper hand in the fight.

Grievous however, was faithful in the training he was given by count dooku, and remained confident in his ability. Following this, Grievous was able to swiftly knock his blood red blades out of the twins’ hands and was extremely excited to be adding them back to his collection.

Much to his anger however, once they landed on the murky, acidic ground of the planet, the weapons rolled and landed in the nearby acid lake that they were fighting next to, dissolving them completely, leaving just the Kyber crystal, deep at the bottom of the lake. There was no chance of it ever being recovered because of the immense strength of the acid.This of course sent Grievous into a rageful fury and made him despise the Jedi even more than he already did, despite the two sisters being Dark Jedi.

Following this ordeal, Grievous was devastated but vowed to continue adding to his vast collection of lightsaber trophies, but with one new condition. He would now only collect the lightsabers of Jedi he had successfully slain in combat.

When you think about it at least in legends theres a practical point as well as a symbolic one. Synthetic crystals can make the lightsaber feel unwieldy and heavier with the addition to the increased cutting power it offers in comparison to natural crystals unless modeled right. The generals spin attacks may not be as quick if he used red lightsabers, and he’s pretty much stronger than any natural being capable of wielding a lightsaber. so he doesn’t reslly need to worry about overpowering his enemies.

Aside from wanting to dine on Ventress's posterior in that one pic, I too would have started collecting Jedi lightsabers if dark jedi stole my fine red lightsabers, if there are no Jedi, there will be no Dark Jedi to steal my new red lightsabers.
