Usually uses the wrong lane but did it safely on this occasion. #roundabouts

Yet another example of poor British road planning, confusing new drivers and can guess most older drivers

Well done student for being clear about his confusion and doing the right thing!

Couldn’t get more British even if you tried 😅😂😂😂😂😂😂

For anyone wondering this is a roundabout in Colchester Essex, the police station is on the roundabout and the first left he was talking about leads around to a Tesco express. Very pedestrianised area now but still has this dangerous and confusing road design

If its not part of the roundabout it should have a curb, or at least lines that makes it obvious.

A road literally connected to the roundabout is not "part of the roundabout" 😂😂😂

Ah yes, the police station roundabout - confused the hell out of me until I realised the police station was considered an exit as well, even though you aren't allowed to exit into it

Omg, I thought the guy talking was actually coming from a sat nav until he repeated the instruction 😂

I'm learning here too and omg these roundabouts were awful. I only started to get them down correctly 2-3 weeks ago. Literally this exact same roundabout I accidentally stalled in the centre lane opposite the police station 😭

"Left First Exit"...
"Which one? the first left or the second left"

Only problem I have with driving is this knowing which lanes are best

I have seen in one video where driver was told roundabout 2nd exit and as soon as he entered roundabout there was similar road which was having a gate looks like some factory and straight left was later revealed that its a 2nd exit

Yeah that left road is too close to the roundabout which can be confusing... But if drivers take a middle lane with a road marking pointing left and ahead, they should expect to leave on the overtaking lane if exiting on the left

This road design just reeks of "taking the piss", don't it?
Maybe I'm just used to driving on the right, but there's like two multi-lane roundabouts in the entire country, so it could just be a case of being unfamiliar with this design.

That said, while I'd been driving fine for like 12 years, the first time my satnav led me onto a three-lane roundabout, with *stop lights for the two innermost lanes* at one point, I got very, very confused.
I still have no idea how you're actually supposed to navigate it, and I blew straight through the stop lights as I didn't expect them to be there (and of course the middle of the roundabout was a miniature forest so there was no way of noticing the stop lights in time unless you knew to look for them).

Never in my life had I felt the need to defenestrate a city planner more than that day...

I swear driving in the UK is the most confusing driving I have ever done. The roads are marked like portraits I'm not sure whether to look at the floor or watch where I'm going 😂

British roads are like trying to figure out time travel with nothing but a rubix cube a broken pen and a piece of string.

the uk made roundabouts, a stunningly simple concept into a city planning nightmare
