The biggest earthquake ever recorded happened in Chile in 1960. The massive 9.5 quake set off volcanic eruptions and sent tidal waves as tall as skyscrapers racing across the entire Pacific Ocean! Scientists estimate that it was so powerful, it shifted the Earth's axis and made our days 1.26 microseconds shorter. So what if a mega earthquake two times stronger than that struck your town? If the magnitude was 20 on the Richter scale it would in fact be approx 10^10 times stronger than current strongest earthquake as the scale is logarithmic

Thank you for the update, Bright Side..!! :) The worst type of an earthquake that can ever happen is the one that goes up-and-down. Created by a ripple effect from crushing tectonic plates underneath the surface. When that happens, the Earthquake-proof homes and buildings can't handle the force of the quake. Let's just hope such earthquakes won't occur anywhere around the world.
