It hit me the other day while reading the books that the reason Ned loves Arya so much and lets her do all this isnt just because he's a great father- its also because she reminds him of Lyanna

Interestingly, in the books, Ned saw all the bruises and scratches that Arya had after all that training and started to doubt his choice of Syrio. He didn't seem to think all that highly about the types of training Arya was doing (e.g. chasing cats). He considered having Jory or even Barristan Selmy give her a few pointers but Arya was adamant that it was Syrio or no one.

My feeling is, any sword teacher that can get a student to enthusiastically accept the lesson that, "every hurt is a lesson and every lesson makes you better, " must be one heck of a teacher.

Ned was a man in a million. He raised some of the kindest and greatest children, not only that, you could say he raised the standards of love and loyalty any house felt for the starks not just in the north but even in other kingdoms. Even long after his death, his children take his lessons to heart and his lords still fight and scheme to save his children

Ned didn't have many scenes with his daughters but you can feel the love he has for them every time he shares the screen with them....Sean Bean is such a wonderful actor!

One of the things I do like is how, for all that Ned Stark is a decent man, he is also a man of his time and has a limited view of the world and of people. In a way, he is very much stuck on "how things ought to be because they've always been that way" like most people are, even if it unintentionally hurts one of his kids
