MY 2023 RAM 3500 LOST 7700 POUNDS OF TOWING CAPACITY!?

I'm not sure what's going on with Ram but I've been pretty disappointed lately. After finding the TFL video on the Ram towing reductions, I've been trying to find out more about what the actual towing numbers on these trucks are now and the best I can come with is the numbers I explain in the video above. I'll be so disappointed in Ram if this is the case but none the less, they should not be reducing our towing numbers out of the blue on us.

Thanks for watching guys and please comment below if you know anything about this!

I'm glad I took a screen-shot of my truck's Towing Capacity Guide before they removed it. I never could find the GCVWR anywhere though.

A SRW truck really shouldn't be towing 20k+, that's dually territory all day. It seems like Ram made these changes because of the guy that thought his 3500 had 7k payload, which he's crazy if he thought that. A 4500 or 5500 would have that payload.

I had a 3500 Mega Cab and now an F350 cclb and my payload is 3805 with towing up to 20, 100. It pulls my 15k toyhauler really well. (So did the Ram)

Those are cab and chassis numbers, I don’t know if it makes a difference. But my standard output 2023 Dually has around 20k of towing capacity. You have to get an HO to get more.

I was searching high and low for these answers and could not find anything. I wanted to so order a 23' Limited 3500, but couldn't justify the price for nothing really new about the truck. I ended up ordering a 24' Chevy High Country Midnight Duramax. Future airline pilot here!

I bought cab n chassis new in 2015 ram 3500 dually gas 4:10 axle. Sticker was $35, 000. Keep in mind your cdl requirements. Gvwr truck 14k. Gvwr trailer 12k

There’s quite a few states now state a max combined gvw of 26, 000lbs ! Lots of people are over loaded over their licenses! If you get a trailer loaded and truck over 26, 000lb, you’ll have to get a non cdl

Interesting comments, I like you don't like the liability of being over weight with my truck. I just traded my 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD SRW for a 2023 GMC Denali DRW. I tow a 35' fifth wheel that grosses 15k and with my 2017 I was always over weight. My front axle rating was 5600 lbs and my rear was 7050, the truck GVWR was 11, 600. I added a ranch hand front bumper with a 18k winch, a 60 gallon diesel transfer tank in the bed plus a tool box . I would scale my truck often since we have some free DOT scales with outside digital readouts and I would typically see 5600lbs on the front axle and 7200-7500 on the rear axle with my fifth wheel in tow. I upgraded tires that would carry 4080 each, but no matter how you do the math, I was usually around 1500 lbs over my max GVWR rating. The 2017 had a payload of over 3500 lbs, but unless I got rid of my goodies, I was over weight. With the new dually, my payload is around 5600 lbs, front axle is 6000 and rear axle rating is 10, 500, GVWR is 14, 000. Max trailer rating is 31, 100 and max Combined Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is 40, 000. The dually gives me plenty of capacity for staying legal.

The towing and payload by VIN page is there, I have it bookmarked. I just used it about a week ago. Too bad YouTube won’t allow me to post web links.

It’s concerning, my 2020’s payload is 4156 and my brothers 2022 is over 4400 payload. My towing max weight is just a little over 20, 000 lbs.I tow only 14500 so I’m within the limits but my payload is near max because I have a toolbox and 46 gal aux tank in the bed.

My 2019 limited crew cab short bed HO SRW had a towing capacity of 23k with a gooseneck it was 20k with the hitch. The numbers you were wanting sound overinflated and wrong.

The tables you show at 4:25 can't be real. Because as far as I know, the only transmission available with the 6.4 Hemi is the 8 speed 8HP75. These tables show the 6.4 with the 6 speed Aisin. Also, the payload numbers don't make sense. Any gas truck should have a much higher payload than a Cummins truck.

I tried looking up mine again a few months ago and at the time I got a messge saying data was not available. I have heard a lot of others have said their towing numbers had dropped.

I've got an 07 3500 dually 5.9 with g56 I put 4.30 gears straight piped exhaust left It stock has 80k miles and it pulls like a train with those gears and the gearing in the transmission in fact it pulled better than my 2016 6.7 cummins with an auto lol if I buy another truck it will be a Ford they seem to be tearing it up

My Ram 2500 Longhorn Limited also lost over 3, 000 lbs towing capacity from what they said it would tow when I purchased it.

they do make some half ton fifth wheel toy hauler with a pin weight of about 1500 pounds

I have a 21' 3500 mega HO. My towing dropped 4000lbs and payload dropped as well. Not to happy about it.

There is no industry standard formula for calculating GVWR or GVCWR. 32, 000lbs for a GVCWR sounds way too high to me for a 1 ton truck.
