I'm a survivor of hurricane Maria in Dominica. It's something u never forget and can't understand unless u experience it . I got depressed after and some days I still cry but it's because I'm grateful to be here alive and well .

I’m glad that, even in the midst of this destruction, death, and sorrow, there’s still a silver lining. This video was, in a weird way, strangely uplifting. Don’t get me wrong! It’s awful that the death toll has risen as high as 34! It’s just interesting how they covered positive moments as well as the tragic ones.

Not evacuating the island when a category 4 is coming is just irresponsible...and it's not a money thing because all those ppl are rich

This death toll could’ve been a lot worse, and I understand this is no consolation for their families.

Still don’t understand why people don’t evacuate when told. Property can be replaced, people can’t. (Jane)

Barrier islands should have a moratorium on construction and on rebuilding. It's time to make the hard choices. Barrier islands are not meant to be static.

Never understood what people saw in living in Florida as full time residents.. I lived there once for 3 months and couldn’t wait to come back home to Boston.

My husband and I just drove through North Port yesterday on our drive home to Tampa from Miami. We had to mandatory evacuate! We could not believe the devastation we saw and that was heat on the interstate! It is unreal! We are beyond grateful! We are still praying for our fellow Floridians! Text disaster to 20222 to donate!😭💔🙏

I wonder if they can put a temporary walkable bridge that floats over water in the meantime?
