Hurricane Milton: Death toll rises as Florida recovers from damage

Power and other utilities continued to slowly be restored across Florida on Friday after Hurricane Milton made landfall on the Gulf Coast, flooding neighborhoods and spawning deadly tornadoes.

Not everyone had access to leave. Disabled folks, poor folks, incarcerated folks, etc. And there was price gouging. To say the least.

Don’t forget that a lot of the damage was from the 100+tornado warnings and the dozens that actually touched down right before the hurricane came on shore.

Hurricane Milton has caused severe damage, leaving millions of people in pain and loss. In this difficult time, empathy and support from the community is extremely important. Hopefully everyone will soon overcome the loss and stabilize their lives.

the harm that something like this does to a family is unimaginable. My sister, her husband and their two kids just moved out of tampa last spring. I'm so glad they did. I'm not a religious man, but i will be praying for the people effected by this tragedy. I hope they all can mentally and financially recover from this as fast as possible.

It's nice living in Florida until it isn't. Hurricanes are unfortunately part of living in an area like that. Nice to visit, too expensive and stressful to live there.

This is sad about the family moved to Florida from Texas few years ago. I hope insurance and the govt will help these homeowners to fix their houses 😢

I live in St Pete, it's my hometown, and I have been through a lot of these storms, and they are not pleasant
