Why You Should Buy the iPhone X Instead of the iPhone 8

I don't see any reason why anyone would get an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus instead of just waiting for the iPhone X. Let me explain.

The design on the X is certainly new, but not necessarily nicer in my opinion. Outside of the OLED display, I see little reason to agree with this video..

-The battery is bigger? You are right, but the difference is almost negligible. iPhone 8 Plus: 2691 vs. iPhone X: 2, 715. I doubt you would see much of an increase if any at all.
-The "larger" screen size? When you factor in the cropping applied on the X when watching a video for example, with the normal 16:9 aspect ratio we all normally consume video at, the screen on the X is actually SMALLER than the 8 Plus.

So what does it have?
-An OLED display (as mentioned)
-A better front facing camera capable of Portrait selfies
-Stabilizer on BOTH rear cameras
-Face ID and all the great tech that comes with it

So whats the argument for the 8 Plus?
-It actually has a bigger screen. At least in any scenario where a bigger screen even matters.
-It keeps touch ID
-Yes, its an old design. However, because it has been the same design for 4 years, it has to be the most refined iPhone EVER. This, in my opinion, has to be at least somewhat of a factor being that it is the complete opposite for the X; with this being the first of its generation.

The 8 Plus also has most of what the X has in new features. This being fast charging, updated camera and wireless charging.

All this and its cheaper!

I find it hard to justify the extra money for a better display, a design I feel was rushed and a bunch of tech that hasn't been refined and tested.

I don't know why but I think the iphone 8 looks better than the x, i just prefer the original look and the fingerprint scanner instead of the face id

Bought my first iPhone ever. The iPhone 8. Money was no issue and I still went with the 8. Comparing it to X, I dislike the design of the X. The classic iPhone style is just something so good even though I've never even used one before. I also very much wanted fingerprint sensor.

Touch ID, cheaper and the principle of paying that much for a phone, didn't want to buy a 1st generation device, the plus screen is actually bigger in width whereas the X screen is taller so less useful, battery is bigger in the plus, I think the camera housing looks horrible on the X, speakers are probably better in the plus due to having more space, I don't want to rely on the unproven face ID technology. There are heaps of reasons why I picked the 8 plus over the 10. Maybe next year or the year after I'll get the new design.

I’m still on the 6S plus 128GB, purchased it when it was released; directly from the apple store. Paid full price, no contract deals.. I refuse to upgrade because the iPhone X notch looks very stupid to me, hoping next September they will fix the notch issue and possibly add Touch ID into the screen. Until I see something like that I feel no obligation to upgrade.

1. the Notch
2. I like my home button and don't care for the new "gestures"
3. the 8+ has a better battery life than the 10.
4. Touch Id is better and faster than face ID
there are plenty of reasons to buy the 8 over the X especially the 8+.

I went for the 8 plus simply because touchID is amazing and so freaking fast! I am definitely NOT ready to give it up. Upgrading from a 6s plus btw.

I'm going to buy the 8 Plus for 2 reasons:
1. The screen on the 8 Plus is actually bigger (measured in pixels by the application). The iPhone X has the same number of pixels in width as the smaller iPhones. This means that the content will feel crowded on the screen (speaking as a web developer). Content on the iPhone 8 Plus will look better.
2. The interaction to unlock the iPhone with FaceId is multistep. You touch the screen to activate the laser projector. The phone then unlocks. You then have to swipe to get into the phone. This is considerably slower than TouchID, which is single step. It's also difficult to use FaceID while being naughty and quickly checking your phone while driving.

The presenter calls himself a nerd but he doesn't have much attention to detail.

Maybe the other reason is to get the extra power and keeping things and accessories which are compatible with the 7, like a scuba housing which you can't get in carrier plans, but can be as expensive as $200.

Or. Or. Or… you can just keep the iPhone 7 and wait till next year.

Not everyone wants an iPhone X. It’s the same phone with a stupid wide screen with emojis I’ll never use . I’m okay with my 8 plus now that I have fast charging.

For those of you who home for the Touch ID on the next model, EVEN IF they find a way to apply the Touch ID into the screen, now, there is no way they will put it again. They said on the presentation that the Face ID is more safe so how could they justify turning back to something ''less'' safe? As we saw with the headphone jack, Apple doesn't take a step back again even if the customers complain.

I am getting the 8+ instead of the X because the X has a bezel at the top and it would annoy the crap out of me every time I looked at my phone plus it’s like a beta version of a new phone so I want one that is reliable and I like the design of the 8+ and the camera on the 8+ is still really good

We'll think about it this way:
iPhone 8/8 plus phones are still Apple's flagship devices for 2017, while the X is some sort of a crazy concept device Apple is testing in the market with limited stock.

And if that's actually the case, the iPhone 8 should've been a better package with better design changes and stuff. I think Apple has screwed things up this year, completely.

I DON'T like that NOTCH! Above this, Iphone X is a rushed and a beta phone. I'll probably buy the Iphone Xs instead

I just watched this video because I am thinking about going back to the iPhone 8 Plus at the end of 2019. I have the iPhone XS Max and I really preferred the iPhone 8 Plus for many reasons. More bezel (easier to hold the phone in landscape), doesn't look like every other phone (iPhone X and XS and iPhone 11 look the same from the front, all black like every other phone, I like a little color on the front of the phone) and I do prefer the finger print ID and home button so much more than the gestures. I know they are here for now, but time changes everything. After having the iPhone X and the XS Max, seeing the new iPhone 11, I realize I really liked the form factor and input type of the iPhone 8 Plus without a notch the best. I can trade my iPhone XS max for the iPhone 8 Plus for $0 at apple, and for me that will be a huge upgrade.

Most things below. I’ve just upgraded to 8+ 256GB from a 7+ 256GB. I could easily buy the X instead but I actually hate anything that isn’t 16:9 aspect ratio. It’s ok on something like iPad Pro 12.9 but why buy a large screen phone mostly for media consumption (vs a smaller phone) and then have to suffer black borders or cropped videos on it? Plus like you said Touch ID is brilliant and reliable.
