Alison Chao’s father arrested by Monterey Park police

The father of a 15-year-old girl whose missing persons case made national headlines has been arrested and faces possible charges for child abduction, conspiracy and falsifying a police report. On Friday, the Monterey Park Police Department announced that Jeffery Chao was arrested following an “extensive investigation.”

What's crazy is that CA law clearly states that a child over the age of 14 is allowed to express preference for which parent they would like to reside with, and the fact that the court ended up deciding on the mother as the primary parent just shows how messed up the judicial system is, especially in CA.

Alison's grandmother said today "We don't have money, we don't have power, but we have God". Alisons friend said that her mom has a lot of money/power and that he's afraid her mother will come after him just for calling her out.

When a kid not only doesn't WANT to go back with a custodial parent, but wants to stay with the other one, it should give police pause & ask themselves WHY!

If mom spends time with Alison regularly, no one could alienate her.

The lady at the end said the mom has custody of the daughter and that is where she should be housed, but not if she is being abused. In every profession there is this mandate to report child abuse. The daughter cries and screams to the police, "I am not going with my mom, she abuses me." Why the hell would you force a child to be in the hands of an abuser, because that is her legal guardian? They should put her with a relative until they can further investigate. How horrifying for the little girl to be forced and not have the system take the allegations seriously, as the system is all about wanting to know about child abuse and reporting it. THIS IS CRAZY, TWISTED THINKING by are so called professionals, all because of a court mandate due to child custody. They don''t always get it right. I do not think the daughter would have been with her father hiding out if he was the abuser. She obviously feels more comfortable with him. Child psychologist and advocates need to talk to the child and stop following what the court wants in this situation. IT is like possibly throwing her into the hands of someone who abuses her if her claims are true, which by her emotional cries I believe they were. The only reason why he got arrested is because under the court custody mandate he wasn't supposed to have his daughter, even if those allegations are true, I don't blame him. What else is he supposed to do? His daughter probably didn't know where to go.
