A heartbroken dad is speaking out after his daughter died while they hiked Yosemite’s Half Dome. Grace Rohloff was hiking with her dad. Johnathan Rohloff tells Inside Edition his daughter had checked the forecast. When they made it to the top, a storm appeared out of nowhere. It began to pour during their descent. Unfortunately, she slipped off the side. As Jonathan Rohloff mourns his daughter's death, he says he will now work to make Half Dome a safer adventure.

Climbing that high grabbing two cables with no protection is insane enough

When I heard she was with her dad my jaw dropped, losing a kid must hurt but in front of you. Damn that’s messed up

How people cannot be using a belt with two cables to ensure one slip doesn't equal death is beyond my imagination.

What’s more traumatizing is seeing his kid falling down to oblivion knowing her death is all but guaranteed, good lord that’s horrifying, bless that man with strength to go on

climbing up that mountain behind people with no anchors is literally insane. If someone falls in front of you its just a chain reaction .

There's no way I'm going to trust that anyone above me isn't going to fall and take me out with them.

Falling 250 feet is comparable to falling from the top of a 25 story building.

I did half dome twice in my life and each time I remembered thinking how easy it would be to die if I slipped or lost my grip on a cable. Terrifying

There’s a very big difference between hiking and climbing a big rock/mountain.

Attempted to finish the Half Dome climb. But when I got to the cables/steps and looked up at nothing but a line of people, something said “ don’t do this”. Going up was going to be a slow challenge and coming down/having to move out of the way of the up climbers was unsettling. When you add a potential storm/lightning possibly arriving- disaster is a real possibility. I turned around and headed back and to this day, I don’t regret it because there was this “ bad vibe” about those cables..

I nearly lost my life through taking risks, ignoring my intuition and making bad choices. People really judge you for it. This is tragic

This is scary. The park should make it mandatory for everyone to have a clip on harness. It would make everyone feel a lot safer about the hike.

This doesn’t look very safe for the general public

It wasn't a hike but mountain climbing with no protective gear.

So sorry to her family, especially her dad who was with her. I can't even imagine how heartbroken he must be.

The real question is why dont you have a clip on safety harness to prevent this???

I did that climb a few years ago. A storm rolled in. People were so scared they froze up on the cables. Wouldn't move. Eventually got to the bottom and we heard screams. Someone fell to his death. Scary as hell.

Tempting fate is never worth your life.

Don't understand why you would put your kid in that type of danger. I understand wanting to have fun and adventure with your kid but that was just stupid!
