Relative arrested for child abandonment after 6-year-old killed in fire

A family member is in custody after a 6-year-old boy died in a Detroit house fire while he was home alone over the weekend.

The reporter says that Mom, grandma, and dad showed up with the fire department putting out the fire where were they when she needed a babysitter and why would she leave him alone may God rest his soul

Racial bias in reporting? What is with using the word abandonment? That is such a strong word and implies something far worse than what you are actually reporting. A child left home alone died in a house fire, would have sufficed as a headline. That is horrible for anyone, especially a child. May the child rest in peace. Condolences to his family. Had the family been white, I suspect that the headline would have been more restrained in terms of word choice.
