That moment when you replace your dying Xbox's hard drive just for the SSD to start dying afterwards got to love it

I bought a new washer and dryer last year, and they have Wi-Fi functionality. When we asked the salesman why, they said they could link to each other and the dryer would know what cycle you just put your clothes on in the washer. Then, when you put them in the dryer it would automatically dry them on the same setting with you not touching anything... That saves me literally no time at all, so there's no reason to keep a very hackable Appliance attached to my Wi-Fi network lol.

I've been having nightmares and premonitions of my damn SSD dying. Thought I lost it last night, but it was just this old monitor tripping out. Everyone turn on your auto image back up.

the worst part about the smart stuff is that some companies like to lock you out of your device if you choose to not connect it to your WIFI

I can’t stand how hard it is to avoid smart devices. I really don’t need Amazon and google knowing everything that I do in my home nor do I want my network congested by the toaster.
I only ever connect my TV once every few months to check for firmware updates and then I cut it off from the Wi-Fi immediately after.

When I tried to warranty a dead on arrival Samsung SSD a year ago, their warranty department was ridiculous. I just sent it back to Amazon.

I hope the DOJ splits up all the tech monopolies. As a software engineer I want competitive wages and the ability to create a small software business that competes in todays market. The tech giants make it nearly impossible for small teams to compete without a lot of luck and a one in a billion idea.

Can you figure out what the cause of this fast degradation is? Wanna know if it was just a faulty batch or if there is a serious concern to be had about the 990 Pro‘s design, so that it‘s smarter to pick the SN850X instead

ok but being able to map Braain Signals to simple-ish button inputs is a huge step for accesibility technology on not just videogames but several other kinds of electronics

I've been using my 860 evo and 970 pro for over 3 years and have been using it for more than 8 hours a day pretty much everyday and HWinfo reports that my drives have 97% and 98% drive remaining health. I think either it has something to do with the new technology (manufacturing, performance, etc), sensor bugs, or health readings that don't follow a linear trajectory.

I am so glad I went Western Digital at the very last moment because of a sale.

still using a 970 pro. 2 of them actually and they’re the most solid drives i’ve ever used. rationale with these new 990’s is that if it’s design is not broken, then no need to fix it

6:15 the craziest thing I've seen is a "smart" fryer with WiFi connection. A greasy security threat, allowing people to burn your house down with a computer virus.

I've often thought about how much more convenient it would be if my TV started making an irritating beeping noise to tell me that my microwave was finished reheating food instead of my microwave making an irritating beeping noise!

This is why I stuck with the last MLC NAND NVMe that Samsung made, the 970 PRO. I use it as my boot drive and have no worries for reliability, currently using the 980 PRO for games so its not a big deal if that one ends up dying.
