I gotta shoutout to Crabbe and Goyle’s actors in this film. They really did a great job portraying Ron and Harry as themselves. Well done by some talented kids at the time.

one thing i love about this film is during the scene when Arthur asks Harry what is the function of a rubber duck, actor Mark Williams would ask a different question on each take which got a genuine reaction from Daniel Radcliffe

Smaller fact. The reason Jason Issacs used the killing curse is because in the novel no specific spell was mention so Jason had to improvise. Having just finished the 4th book, the killing curse was fresh on his mind

Lucius spends a LOT of time at the Ministry, kowtowing to various apartmental heads and the Minister himself, often pushing around his gold to have things done his way. Arthur complains about it several times in the series. So yes, Lucius would see Arthur at Arthur's place of work.

The Chamber of Secrets is, and always will be, my favorite film in the franchise. I have such fond memories of watching this particular movie as a kid and it has always been so special to me. There’s just so many great and memorable scenes. The flying car, another great Quidditch scene, the diary, the spiders, the basilisk, learning who Tom Riddle was, I can go on. I also believed the basilisk was a real snake too when I was a kid lol.

The main brand of sticky tape in the UK is called Sellotape, which is why the wizarding world version has the name Spellotape.

One of my favourite easter eggs in this film is Arania Exumai. Harry tells Ron he knows one spell that works on spiders and he later uses it to save Ron from the spider that grabs his neck.

Harry knows this spell because he saw Tom Riddle use it on Aragog in the diary flashback. Voldemort unintentionally taught Harry a spell that helped him save Ron's and possibly his own life considering Ron was behind the wheel of the car.

When Harry visits the memory in the diary, he is still lit by the candle standing on the desk.

Also, fun fact: Spiders fear the basilisk above all creatures because spiders have eight eyes and no eye lids, so coming across a basilisk would most certainly be instant death for them.

This is such a good series already and I love the little things we learn together, and it’s so interesting😊

One more thing I have to note. In the chamber, after the basilisk gets blinded, Riddle directs it back to Harry in the film in a way that’s very different from the book, and also very inaccurate to snakes in general. In the film, he says the basilisk can still *hear* Harry, and the reason it’s inaccurate is because hearing is the weakest sense for snakes. In the book, as well as in the PC game, Riddle says the basilisk can still *smell* Harry, which is actually spot on, since smell is the strongest sense for snakes.

I always find it hilarious that movie Lucius planned on murdering Harry right outside of Dumbledore's office

My suggestion of this movie messing up the polyjuice potion by keeping their original voices is that, maybe different polyjuice potion batches can range in quality? Like, yes, you can brew a successful potion, but if there are any ingredients or steps that were just the slightest bit off, it affected the quality of the potion. So because Hermione was likely brewing this with found ingredients for a slightly rushed plan, the potion wasn't perfect, and so their voices stayed the same. Which could also lend itself to making Barty Crouch Jr. more terrifying. Maybe his potion batch was a very high quality. Maybe because he was able to make a larger batch of really good potions, the only downside was that he needed to drink it more often, otherwise the effects wore out sooner? Or maybe because his perfect potion batch needed to last over the course of an entire school year, he could only consume very little at a time to try to make the batch last, but had to do it frequently as a result of it being too little per serving?

Long story short, polyjuice potions in the films were cool, and the decision to keep the original voices was to help distinguish the characters apart. Still fun.

20:48 the pixie saying "yeehaw" as the dragon falls is a reference to Dr Strangelove.

Also, when they drop Neville onto the chandelier, one of them says "you just stay there now, my lover" in a Cornish accent 😂

When the St. Louis Science Museum was doing a special Harry Potter even, I worked with a cosplayer dressed up as Lockheart.
Our take was about wax sealing.
The people were allowed to pick either an invitation to Hogwarts or a personal letter from Lockheart.
The cosplay was really in character for the event, and I played along. Whenever someone would ask for the Hogwarts letter, the cosplayer would get upset, and I would step in by mention that the child wants to go to Hogwarts to learn about Lockheart’s greatness.
It was a great time. :)

I don't know if this was already mentioned, but the pixie riding on the dragon skeleton yelling "Yee Haw!", is an homage to the scene in " Dr. 😊 Strangelove..." when the Major "King" Kong rode dow to earth on top of the atomic bomb yelling "Yee Haw". Chris Columbus is of the age to remember that iconic film.
