Mad props to Chris Colombus for paying attention to detail for this film. In my opinion, I believe he had the most passion for this series than the rest of the directors

Quirrell showing the students an iguana is already 10x more than what Umbridge did as a teacher.

Did you catch in the Quidditch scene when Wood first shows Harry the snitch, he (Harry) is able to follow it with his eyes while Wood looks in the wrong direction almost immediately which hints to Harry being a great seeker

On the topic of Mrs. Weasley’s gifts at 32:28, it reminded me of something really heartwarming from Harry’s 17th birthday. She gave Harry her brother Fabian’s watch, something clearly special and sentimental, whereas she gave Ron a new one all his own for his 17th birthday. I’m not the first to say this nor will I be the last, but it really shows how good of a mother Molly is because she knew what each of them needed and would mean more to them; Ron, the boy who always got hand-me-downs, gets something that was entirely his own, and Harry, the boy orphan with no family keepsakes, gets something of a family heirloom. Molly may not have been a perfect person or mother, and she made mistakes at times, but dammit if she didn’t know and love all 8 of her children.

14:53 I re-read the Philosopher’s Stone, and when I read when Harry got his wand and used it, it said red and gold sparks came out of it, foreshadowing him being in Gryffindor

Fun fact: not only was Chris Columbus' daughter in the movie, so was Tom Felton's grandfather, Nigel Anstey. He was the professor at the end of the head table you identified as Professor Kettleburn. He was also in the Quidditch scene in the stands next to Lee Jordan. He also appeared in the "Troll in the dungeon!" scene.

Fun fact: in addition to voicing the Voldemort face on his head, Quirrell actor Ian Hart was also the one who played Voldemort in his physical form for the Godric’s Hollow flashback.

8:04 that is the animatronic Hagrid head that was used throughout the series. Due to Robbie Coltrane not being Hagrid’s size (obviously) the filmmakers brought in a huge rugby player to wear the head and fill in for the shots that show how big Hagrid is.

The head is currently at the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London. This is where I learned this information.

9:20 "...from a book I had laying around." gives off the same vibe as "I checked this out weeks ago for a bit of light reading." 😂😂

Didn't they say somewhere that the more powerful or skilled the wizard, the quieter their apparition? It would make sense for Dumbledore to be silent.

25:55 another thing I would like to add
according to snape, mixing these ingredients would brew you a very strong sleeping potion, also known as the draught of living death.. this represents snape's life after lily's death

Forgot when Harry is asking Percy who Snape is, that the back of Quirrell head is facing Harry. Harry thinks it’s Snape that made his scar sting but it’s actually Voldemort under the turban.

My theory on Dumbledore apparating silently is that he was so powerful that he could apparate without making the noise, kinda like how he can conjure such a powerful Disillusionment Charm that it makes him invisible.

I’ve always loved that the scene of Wood showing the snitch to Harry & Wood releases it “Harry can follow it when looking at it but Wood can’t”… Nice detail as well. 😉👍🏼

That first one is a stretch. Rowling stated specifically that she chose Privet as the name in reference to the Privet hedge, a type of hedge commonly found in the gardens of suburban homes. I had a privet hedge in my childhood home.

My two favorite movies of the series are the first two. It might be because they introduced us to much of the wizarding world, but also buildings/scenery/special effects looked so much more real than the later films. I know it's not until Chamber of Secrets, but Dobby looked real/believable to me whereas in the later films he looked blurry and subdued. Thanks so much. Lots of things I hadn't noticed especially in Diagon Alley.

The "Scary Hagrid" is a man named Martin Bayfield. He is a HUGE man (rugby player) who was Hagrid's double in scenes where Hagrid needed to look really tall. Even Bayfield had to wear a suit that made him wider and he walked on stilts. The reason Hagrid looks so scary is because it's a Hagrid-Mask that Bayfield had to wear in wide angle shots to look more like Robby Coltrane.

One of my favorite smaller details in this movie was when harry got sorted and just slightly in the background, Fred and George are chanting "We got Potter! We got Potter!" just like the books. I always thought this movie introduced the dynamic duo extremely well.

Just a little note about Queen consort Anne boleyn is that she wasn't actually a witch but was accused of being one because she had a sixth finger on each hand. She was executed because her husband King Henry thought she was having an affair and so he accused her of it and executed her. So it's a cool little detail because she was thought to be a witch but never actually was
