In todays video we will answer (Does Lacquer Thinner cleans carbon on pistons), this video requested by so many of you guys if it cleans carbon on pistons or cleaning intake valve , or decarbonize engine
we put one can of lacquer thinner in gas tank and we drove the car till the tank is empty

on my previse video i did cleaning the carbon with steam
Even this is indirect injection engine, but still too much carbon buildup on the intake valve building up because, i drive the car aggressively sometime and the oil vapor passing from PCV valve to intake throttle

decarbonize engine with water is the cheapest method, but it only removes

light carbon, not a heavy carbon buildup, so steam does removes carbon buildup on piston and intake valve

this is a very common problem with indirect fuel injectors, because the fuel injectors located on top of the piston meaning the fuel injectors no longer washing the intake valves

in this video we will answer (Does water/steam cleanse pistons and intake valve of Direct/Indirect injection engine without REMOVING anything?) and i will show the process of intake valve cleaning without using special tool in another meaning: decarbonizing your engine with water

Hmm. Thinking about that, will it clean AFR & O2 sensors, cat, injectors and the piston slug as well? What would you say?

Dont know about others / but my check engine went on last week for cat bank 1…put lac in my tank with 5 gallons of gas and drove 30 miles and bammm it turned off… worth a try.. maybe a few times..

Im an old mechanic
Here's a great trick if you dump a quart of atf in the intake with the cars running at high rpms it will stop the engine.
Then just let all the oil sit in the cylinders for 12 hr
Start engine the next day
It will smoke like a fright train
And all the carbon will be gone

You can disconnect vacuum hose from CPV (crankcase positive ventilation) and dip the vacuum from hose it in and out of the lacquer thinner, which avoids putting in gas tank and having it going through entire fuel system hoses and injectors, but still will help clean piston heads, and the catalyst convertor. Helps avoid the solvent action on fuel line parts. It only goes into the intake manifold, then mix with incoming fuel to only affect the piston and exhaust system.

LT is for cleaning cats. Water works best to decarbonize cylinders. Check out the an engine that had a coolant leak into one of the cylinders... That one cylinder will look almost like new...

Is there specific type of lacquer thinner to use? Here in Canada we don't have the exact one you have. I went to home depot here and they have many options so I don't know which one to buy.

Oh yes. Lacquer thinner WILL eat carbon. I would take a quart/liter can and pour it slowly down the carburetors of my old cars and let them stall. Let them soak for an hour then start them up and drive in second gear through town at 4000 rpm. I'd get home running on half the cylinders (plugs totally caked with carbon) then change the plugs and the oil.
I'd be careful with a modern vehicle putting it in the tank with modern high pressure pumps tho. It can eat rubber and plastic components of your fuel system.
