Every time I watch him it reminds me of the story of the 3 guys captured during the war who knew a national security secret. They were tortured. After 1 hour the Frenchman gave up all he knew, after 2 hours the Swede gave up everything he had. Two days later Scotty still hadn't broken. They asked him why he didn't tell. He said he wanted to tell but they had his hands tied behind his back so he couldn't talk...

Oh yes, you definitely need to clean up the carbon build up in a “old car.” I cleaned my fuel injectors, and intake manifold on my CRV 2000, and oh man, I wish I had done it earlier. It runs a whole lot better after the cleaning.

The coolant sprayed into WW2 engines was a water-methanol mix, and it worked in 3 ways:
1. Cooled intake air, colder air-fuel mixture in the chamber, less knock. Less knock meant you could run more boost for more power.
2. This colder charge, aside from aside from allowing more boost, allowed more dense air within the boost.
3. The methanol within the water acted as an octane booster, and water acted to inhibit combustion to reduce detonation. Thus, more boost. (or worse fuel)

Me: Hey Scotty, I'm having issues with my car, can you see what's wrong with it?
Scotty: Yes, it's not a Toyota.

My grandpa always said “ blow the soot out of it” lol. It was funny to watch that old man hammer down on his truck every now and then after driving 25mph all the time

I brought a 2008 van in 2014..
Drove it round town mostly with a few 20mile trips doing 50-70mph mostly due to speed restrictions..
my friend drove it on a 100mile trip doing mostly 80mph..
when I got back behind the wheel the next day it felt like it had an overhaul..
Was so much more responsive on the throttle so a good run can do wonders for vehicles that has just been driven round town slowly

That’s what we told the county mounties when we were in High School, “we were just burnin’ the carbon out officer.”

about 40 years ago my dads 1974 cadillac had carbon buildup. The mechanic mixed transmission fluid and water in a coffee cup. He slowly poured it into the carburator while the car was running, and it ran great after he was done.

Italian tune-up really helped my F-150. It doesn't get driven very hard. I drove it at 80 miles an hour in second gear for 1 minute. It's now idling smooth as can be. Thanks Scotty. I had tried all sorts of different additives without success.

Scotty, my friend is a mechanic. One day we used a BG induction system cleaner on my car.
He hooked up a special sprayer in my intake boot and an air compressor.
I only drive about 2 miles to work and it helped smooth out my idle a lot!

I need a Kilmer key chain or bobble head so I can carry a good mechanic with me always.

I had my dealership clean the valves cleaned with walnut shells. My car is a 2010 VW CC with 103K miles. My car had so much carbon build up it was misfiring and the opening at the intake was closed by about 50%. After it was cleaned and the oil changed. My car is easily getting 11 to12 mpg more than before. It really works.

Heh. Finally the time has come, for us, to REV UP THE ENGINE!

Walnut blasting works just fine and easy to do. Make sure valves are closed and a vaccum running at the same time you are cleaning the valves and it comes out looking new.
