Hi Grace! My facial tics started a year ago now. Mine is movement of my mouth. I always try to have control over it but it creates more anxiety because I can't control it. People have noticed and it is embarrassing for me. Some days I'm in tears because it gets so bad. I just try and stay busy and try not to focus too much on it. Just remember, you're a beautiful person, and the people that are true to your life will accept whatever little quirks you may have. Your true beauty is within. It will get better! :)

Thank you for being so open and vulnerable.

Having had anxiety to most of my life, and it shows up differently, then facial spasms, but I knew I had to get to the source of the anxiety.

I started receiving body work that focuses on down, regulating the nervous system, like CRANIOSACRAL therapy, and doing my own inner work to get to the root cause, and a lot of the symptoms are gone.

As long as I keep using different coping tools, - doing my inner work, the symptoms Are greatly diminished, if not gone.
I’ve seen this happen to other people as well, who are on their own healing journey. You’ve probably heard of books like the body keeps the score.

Apparently it can be a compressed nerve....if is anxiety related, try and do mindful relaxation in that spot. Meaning, breath into the part of your face and see it relaxing, deep breathing helps heal muscles and nerves. Also try and sit with straight posture if you notice you are slouching. You can also do facial massage, look it up on youtube. Another one is nerve flossing which is different ways to stretch your neck, to pull and release nerves in tight muscles.. Another thing to remember and take notice, when you sleep does this afflict you then??....if not then you have to know how you are in sleeping state... is how you can be in waking state...so focus on word relax. Also one more thing ask God to guide you to healing, ask for his help. :-) you will be ok. take care and anyone else who is suffering.

A few tips that might help (I don't have tics anymore atm):

Reduce a stress factor in your life (in my case: my precious job was awful, but I was in denial)
Go to bed on time, get at least 7 hours sleep every night.
Don't drink too much coffee. I drink 1 or 2 a day.
Distance yourself from people who drain your energy.
Think positive, flip your negative thoughts to something positive.

I too have the facial tics, make low grunting noises along with Certain body movements and I also constantly move my hands I can absolutely empathise with you and anyone going through this and as far as seeing others in public with said tics it’s not disgusting at all I have have four kids and my husband is a disabled veteran so we see at of different things and all I do is explain to my kids what they may see and not to be rude because no one can control certain situations or circumstances that doesn’t make us any less of a person or anyone who should be looked on/at any differently but you’re amazing for making this video and others like me I like us appreciate it truly helps us know we’re not the only ones and that definitely makes me feel a lot better I hope all the support helps you as well ❤️

I get face/ neck twitches while talking to people. It makes social interactions so awkward for both of us. I've had these twitches for around a year and I can't do anything social with out twitching it's so embarrassing.

My left eye ticks like your's. The tick is so strong it contorts the whole left side of my face. And laying down for sleep still no rest. I do get some relief by applying pressure finger presses on the side of the face, close to the jaw line. You have courage sharing with us. Thankyou

I have been dealing with facial tics randomly developing and disappearing over the span of weeks for my whole life. Every couple years I get it again. Right now my right eyebrow keeps rising every couple seconds as well as my nostrils. I can control it, but only if I pay very close attention to it. It's usually linked to increased anxiety and sleeplessness. Hope it disappears again in a couple of weeks again like usual.. been going on for like two weeks now. Not sure if it's the same kind of tic as you, for me it doesn't feel uncomfortable to prevent it.

I wouldn't think much bad about it with others. When I see others with facial tics I just notice it but I don't really consciously think about it.

You look gorgeous btw.

I have tics and they get worse when I focus on them. It's hard to hide around people so they get worse. Also have OCD. When I'm really stressed and don't want them, they get worse. Like for example when I was graduating and had to sit in front of a lot of people it was so hard and I felt the rising anxiety as I tried to suppress everything. Im sorry you go through this. You're not weird, or disgusting, you're a human with an anxiety disorder like many of us. ♥️

You're beautiful. If people are looking, please don't assume it's because of a spasm, but you've got a lovely presence and voice. I just developed HFS in my right lip 5 months ago and when my husband notice for the first time, I cried. But if this is the worst thing that ever happens to me, I'll be okay. And I've read that Botox works better with time, like it trains the muscle.

My 10 yo boy suddenly started (6weeks ago) with eyes tics then mouth, neck, shoulder and verbal slight grunt. I believe its stemming from anxiety and extremely low levels of Magnesium. I bought some Magnesium Chloride Bath Flakes and he soaks nightly for 20-40mins to absorb the magnesium this way and his symptoms have diminished greatly. I also gave him MSM capsule once a day for about 2-3 weeks, and Nattokinase by "Now", Tyrosine for anxiety, and also been worming him daily (with Qenda Ultimate Fibre) for about 5 weeks unbelievable strange long stringy threads coming out. We've been using a 2min breathing (Buteyko) technique to slow his breathing down as we realise he over breathes (short and shallow) and science shows this increases anxiety. I wish you all the best and pray you get well now.

My husband has facial spasm through his anxiety - he deals with it ok now. I met him when he had this and I find it super cute… it’s other people’s problem he says now If people stare. Life is so much more inclusive in most places now.. anything goes - there is no need to feel ashamed .. just be yourself and maybe in time you will cope better :)

I’m sorry dear it’s hard to deal with sometimes. I lost my nephew in December 2022 and the spasms started recently, I’m sure this is from severe stress and anxiety from grieving. It’s around my mouth mainly chin, it’s gotten so bad it’s caused a wrinkle in my chin to appear just in a few weeks and I know the wrinkle is from the spasm because I barely have wrinkles otherwise. I find washing my face and doing a good facial massage helps and I soak a wash cloth in hot water and hold it on my chin. I also take ibuprofen which helps. Plus I’m drinking more water and eating healthy and taking vitamins I need. We have to do our best to get proper rest and minimize stress as much as we can. I hope you get better.

You're so pretty...I have BFS twitches all over...it's insane. I've had facial twitches ..calf twitches ..legs..biceps etc. It's been 9 months. It came out of nowhere. I've suffered from anxiety my whole life so...maybe it's that. Drs. say it's benign but, it's hard to live with.

hi love, I'm so sorry about your situation. I used to have serious bad twitches in my neck and head which exactly made my anxiety worse.. I'm very understanding to others when something seems off because I've been there. What really helped me was detoxing and trying to go on a raw diet but try to get ride of early bad foods. look into nervous system health gut health and therapy such as yoga, breath work. I think your gorgeous coming from a female but what really matters most is your happiness. hope your journey turns out well

You can break the anxiety cycle that it is you are self conscious and anxious about it and that is exactly what is keeping the whole fear going in the first place.you’re fine it’s just a side effect of nervousness. Stay positive minded as much as possible and relax and pamper yourself so you can feel much better. God Bless you.

I have hemifacial spasms. I also get the urge to close the eye and lip and bring my face to the side to stop the pain on the inner corner off my left eye. Its always aching. I feel so sad i have this. I know alot of people dont think its that deep but its so emotionally and physically draining. Alot of my migraines also occur in the same eye and it just feels so irritating! I also get twitches mainly in my left side in my uterus area/leg/neck/arm. I am just wanting this mri to hurry up so i can just rule other stuff out and move on with life. I also struggle alot with mental health and my anxiety is really bad tbh :/ your still beautiful but i understand your pain x

Hi, i feel so much better to know that it’s not only me! I felt so down thinking of my twitches because of which I couldn’t express myself nor communicate with others. I always put my hair down to hide my facial twitches and avoid people. I use to be so confident but now, it’s just so stressful to even smile.
