More than 300,000 people in the UK have Tourette's syndrome which causes people to make involuntary sounds and movements, known as tics.

These symptoms have been reduced using the Neupulse device, which delivers electrical stimulation directly into nerves in the wrist.

Singer Lewis Capaldi was among the 121 people who trialled the new technology developed at the University of Nottingham, after recently sharing his own Tourette's diagnosis.

As someone with tourette's, I'm so hopeful for this device. I can't wait for it to be released to the public, it'd make my life so much easier

Wonderful. The fact it avoids operating on the brain is great and things will get better with time.

That’s interesting. When I get my Tourette’s I apply pressure on my wrist and it usually stops the event pretty quick.

Is it one of those devices that have to be worn for life or does it actually help to retrain the brain so that, eventually, it will get rid of tics for good?

I can't imagine how difficult this must be to live with this I'm hopeful that with the advances of artificial intelligence we can come up with better treatment or even a solution someday soon
