I THOUGHT ALL OF THIS WAS NORMAL but my hands feel so weird and stiff with an ache at the base of my thumbs all the time and I don't know what to do

Please people if you experience any pain with your HSD, don't overextend to show off or just to prove you are flexible! You'll end up like me with severe osteoarthritis beofre 40. I really wish I hadn't shown off so much as a kid and I was encouraged to do ballet moves and be super flexible in color guard and such. I really regret it as my joints are way more advanced than my age and I'll likely need a hip or knee replacement or both by the time I'm 50. Every overextension you do is like 2-3 times the normal wear and tear on your oints so you are going to realy feel it years down the road. Take it from someone who is 38 with osteoarthritis due to HSD!

I once got stopped by a police officer, who wanted to search me, knowing I had 200 quid of weed on me… so I lifted my middle finger upwards and told him I broke my finger and I need to get to the hospital. It worked

I thought this was normal 😭 definitely explains why I get so frustrated on piano sometimes since if I play too aggressively my fingers easily do this.

I have all of that with both of my hands ever since I was a kid and I thought everybody could do that

I was brought into the school doctor's office at age 4 and diagnosed with having "loose hand joints" - they said I would grow out of it... I did not, I'm 25 now, and it hurts 😭 Thanks for this video, I needed the confirmation

Thank you so much. I never knew that this was a thing. My hands do all of these things.

I was diagnosed at 34 years old w/ EDS after many years of pain & discomfort & feeling so unheard. I am so grateful I know the cause of all of my symptoms. Apparently my party tricks weren’t exactly a normal thing after all these years 😂😂🥴🥴

There's an amazing doctor in Rhode Island who does both real life and virtual appointments for special conditions like EDS. He's really skilled, such a great physician, he diagnosed me through a screen when tons of doctors couldn't even in person ❤

Yep, just like everyone else here, I also used to think all this was normal. I have longer then normal fingers, and toes. In fact, I used to always joke I'm half of a dwarf due to my short torso and long ape arms and legs. I'm now starting to realize it's not. I'm almost 40, and the older I've gotten the more stiff my joints are...but according to the last doctor I visited, it's all just due to me going into middle age.

I don’t even have to push my fingers back👀

I have all these, especially the "pushing" fingers backwards but without the pushing. I just have to "straighten" my fingers and they go past 2/3 of the way to 90°... BUT when you get tested they just look if the pinky bends 90°, one of mine's has a deformity so I can't straighten the whole pinky but the first part of the finger does bend 90° (I don't understand why they don't take into account my deformity) AND they test if you can touch your forearm with your thumb, which I cannot that 😮‍💨 so annoying

UGH THE WRIST POPPING OUT 😭😭😭 It doesn't hurt but it makes me think mg hand is going to come off at the wrist when I'm walking my dog or carrying in the groceries 😢
I have all the other symptoms plus double jointed thumbs. Can bend them behind the back of my hand. Freaks people out.

My hand can litterally bend so far backwards and I think I have all of those except the thumb one!

without weight lifting or moving enough daily my body just effin hurts even more. chronic pain is so weird, I can't even imagine not struggling 24/7 at the same time many symptoms may seem so subtle man, took me 31 years to understand this is not what everybody experiences ^^
