If Titanic sank by the Stern, it would not have broken in 2. Once the stern went under, this meant that all the heavy engines of the ship (which were at the stern) would drag the ship down. There would be 0 strain (or stress whichever you want) meaning Titanic would have not broke in 2.

Bow: yay I dodged the iceberg
Stern: oh no

I bet there would've been more deaths if this had happened. the light's would've gone off sooner since the generators were aft. and she most likely wouldn't have split since the stern housed most of the weight compared to the bow.

Then Rose wouldn't have said to Jack "This is where we first met".

I don’t know if it would’ve split in half. The reason it split in half was due to the engines weight and the water dragging the bow down, so it was like a tug of war contest. But if it sank from the back then the engine wouldn’t be dragging the titanic down like it did when it sank from the bow

This animation amazes me... the graphics are stunning. But as I watched the ship angle down stern first... I don't believe she would have even split apart. In the real world.... on that fateful night... Titanic broke apart just forward of her massive and really heavy reciprocating engines... the great difference in weight with her stern rising up created an incredible amount of stress on her hull and keel. In this depiction with her bow pointing upwards... that huge difference in weight wasn't there... her forward compartments were much lighter than the ones closer to the stern... her bow was much lighter. In my opinion she would likely not have broken apart at all... or still may have once the ship left the surface... but would have in roughly the same spot as the real ship did on that fateful night as her aft compartments would have weighed so much more... engines... generators etc along with thousands of gallons of water... and very little trapped air. Again this is only my opinion...

It's also creepier when u see it sink this way cause you brain has to comprehend what your seeing and when u realize ur witnessing the titanic sink you realize, "hold up, wait a minute, something ain't right"

That is actually so interesting, I've never thought of that possibility.

I don't think she'd have split if this had happened... most of the weight was in the stern (the engines, turbine room and propeller shafts) she might have gone down in one piece if this was true

gotta love the fact that the wood from the ship is grey

I think she wouldn't have split.
The ships center of mass was between the 3rd and 4th funnel and not between the 3rd and 4th.
This is the reason she split near the 3rd funnel.
