Something you didn't touch on. If everyone was from the captain, Ismay, and Andrews down to every third class passenger and every crew member, we now have all 2200 people who were on titanic as eye witnesses to the breakup. Absolutely no way for them to deny that it did break in half.

Here's some topic ideas in case you want them:
1. Dogs on the Titanic (lets be honest; this isnt talked about as much, and its an interesting topic)
2. Lifetime of the Olympic, Mauretania, and Aquitania before they were scraped
3. Sinking of the Andrea Doria, Empress of Ireland (you've mentioned these but never done videos on them), or the Carpathia.

There would be two side effects if this scenario takes place:
1.- Titanic would never be famous to the popular culture has we all now today.
2.- The shipping industry will not make changes on lifeboats configurations until another vessel sanks like the Titanic and without having a ship nearby to rescue them.

Ii wasn’t sure about the ‘what if videos’ before but I’ve grown to love them. It’s fascinating to think what could have happened IF this had happened or IF that person had done that thing. The Titanic disaster was such a powerful mix of everything coming together in the wrong way. Bit of weird weather, bit of design weakness maybe, lots of humans being human, huge amounts of terrible luck and/or terrible timing and there you go. It happened in large part BECAUSE no one could conceive of such a thing happening.

Air France Flight 447 is called the Titanic of the Skies and she really was. The same combination of weird weather, instrument failure (albeit temporary), crew mixups and screwups and whatnot and now we have a passenger jet in the same ocean as the Titanic, both sent there with the very best of intentions. Like the Titanic, if any one of those factors had been the only one to happen that night it likely wouldn’t have happened.

I wonder if they could've lowered the boats in time?

With another ship present, maybe there would've been less hesitation for leaving the safety of the titanic. Also, word of the Californian being on the way would reach everyone early. There might be more urgency to make everyone aware since there would be less chance of panic. They would've utilized gangway doors a lot more. Not only using titanic's boats, but Californians.. Would've been easier for 3rd class passengers for sure! As for the capacity of the Californian, thats just how much room based on berths, not the actual capacity with people in public spaces and on deck.

You've mentioned that they barely launched the lifeboats they had on Titanic so even if they had more, they would've had time to launch them. That being the case, they wouldn't have been able to use Californian's lifeboats to ferry off of Titanic, but they could've picked up those in the water. Also, they could've kept some people in the lifeboats rather than bringing them onboard. After all, it was only until another ship could arrive and that's what ended up happening, anyway, so additional lifeboats plus some coming onboard would've been a better situation.

Great video as always! Another thing is even if the Californian couldn't actually hold all 2200+ people, they still would have both Titanic's lifeboats and the Californian's lifeboats. So worst case scenario is they just tie the lifeboats to the side of the Californian until the Carpathia and everyone else arrive.

The wireless operator on Californian had just went to bed too. He was literally awake in bed as titanic was calling.. It’s also sad they were close enough to just see what was going on with the flares it’s not like it would have killed them. They thought it was a warning to stay away

Don’t forget the Olympic was also trying to get to the titanic as well and even offered to take on the survivors from the carpathia but was decided that the titanic survivors would probably not want to board another ship so similar that night

Wow, never knew lifeboats were essentially viewed that way back then! That explains why 16 lifeboats would be thought of as adequate for a vessel the size of the Olympic Class.
