My fav Zizek joke is, what's the difference between St. Patrick's Day and Cinco De Mayo? On St. Patrick's Day everyone wants to be Irish.

I've seen him a few times and he never breaks character.

I'll grant that he does a spot on perfect imitation of a radio tuned just off the station.

If you talk all the time, as he rightfully observed, you won't hear what anyone else has to say.
Furthermore the admittance being enslaved to the system works as a justification _Not to change a damn thing_
Precisely this is ideology today!
I foolee agree

This is why I love Zizek even though I also hate him!

'You talk all the time, not to achieve something, but to make sure nothing will happen.' Beautifully said.❤

And y'all need to chill with the comments on his speech impediment. It is to miss genius for something so insignificant.

Have to understand how much it all had to change when royals and nobles were no longer the mecenas of artists, painters and composer musicians. Had to develop to become more popular, succeed through populism capitalism

I’ve always thought that a lot of museums are organized a little bit like shopping malls. You’re incentivized to spend a little bit of time on everything instead of really studying a piece of art.

It fits into the pseudopsychologisation of europeans tho.

A sincere apology may still be followed by a horrible war, but gaining the power to do so may be obstructed by the rhetoric used to achieve it.

So true, Žižek loves to talk to make sure nothing happens. <3

its like he just discovered that under this system everything is co-opted to become a merchandise, even the so called liberty of speech, even artist's, even your work force. so much for free will

Actual good words although I don't agree with most of his general views.
The last words especially.

lol this is so painfully true. I did have the pleasure to go to the Venice Biennale one year (just happened to be the one time I was studying abroad in Italy so I figured it would be cool) and tbh I did enjoy it and it was the “DEATH OF THE ARTIST” theme year which was prob like 30 years late to the party this was early 00’s. Anyway I did find it really fun and interesting and there was this little box you couldn’t open that kept playing “in da club” by 50 cent all day loud as hell and idk what that had to do w anything but Japan had an awesome atmospheric exhibit. I think it had all the same self hating messaging then too but I was too busy trying to figure out how a bunch of pills in a mirror was art lol (Damien Hurst) but it was a fun time to like art. The Radiohead era of western civilization lol

That’s why wearing a cease fire pin at the oscars is such a joke
