Sushi 🍣
Ingredients:
* Sushi rice (600g)
* Nori (seaweed) sheets
* Rice vinegar (1/3 cup)
* Sugar (2 tablespoons)
* Salt (1 teaspoon)
* Vegetables of your choice (e.g., cucumber, avocado, carrot, asparagus, etc.)
* Salmon (300g)
* Crab sticks (optional)
* Soy sauce for dipping
* Pickled ginger and wasabi (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
* Prepare the Sushi Rice Akita Komachi from @yutakaeats
* Add 600g of sushi rice in a pot and then add 800ml cold water and allow the rice to soak for 15-30 minutes. Bring to the boil and simmer for approx. 12 minutes with the lid on.
* Turn off the heat and leave to stand with the lid on for 10 minutes before serving.
* Or cook the rice according to the package instructions of the sushi rice that you are using.
* In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup of rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Heat this mixture in the microwave for about 30 seconds, stirring until the sugar and salt dissolve.
* Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl, and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Let the rice cool to room temperature.
* Julienne the vegetables into thin strips. Common choices include cucumber, avocado and asparagus.
* Place a bamboo sushi rolling mat on a flat surface and put a sheet of plastic wrap on top. Place a sheet of nori, shiny side down, on the plastic wrap.
* Wet your hands to prevent the rice from sticking, and spread a thin, even layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top.
* Arrange the julienned vegetables horizontally across the center of the rice.
* Lift the edge of the bamboo mat closest to you and roll it over the ingredients, applying gentle pressure. Continue rolling until you reach the exposed border of nori. Wet the border with a little water to seal the roll.
* Use a sharp knife dipped in water to slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces.

I tried for the first time the Premium Japanese Akita komachi Rice from @yutakaeats that is individually vacuum packed for freshness. It’s also washed and ready to cook!👨🏻🍳
