My 10 year old born with unilateral hearing loss in right side just started experiencing sudden hearing loss in his left ear around a week. He saw an ent specialist Wednesday, they prescribed prednisone and antiviral. Within 2 hours of his first dosage of medications he blacked out for about 30/40 seconds and started to vomit when he became alert. Emergency drs ran blood work and tests and everything came back ok so they assumed it was the medications, since the initial dose he hasn’t had any more. He has however been having horrible headaches that cause ringing in the left ear, sound distortion, major nausea, and many sensory sensitivities (lights, touch, movement, or even just trying to focus his eyes on something, such as reading written words to communicate with us. The headache was so unbearable I couldn’t even physically touch him to comfort him in any way. He saw his physician today and we were told to try and treat it as migraines and also ct scheduled a ct scan and another follow up hearing test in 5 weeks. The more I’m researching the more I keep seeing the similarities to what his symptoms are to the symptoms of those such as your patient. My son has been going through so much this last week and we are willing to try whatever we can to make the pain and uncomfortableness go away.

Thank you Dr. Teixido...I stumbled upon your videos....I was misdiagnosed for 2 years with sinus problems...when in fact it was migraines.

Hi Dr
I find myself in desperate place and not knowing whom to turn to.
A couple of years ago i developed imbalance issues that came on very gradually but then were pretty much constantly present. I went to many doctors and ENT specialists and no one could figure out what was causing the problem or how to resolve the issue. Eventually i met an ENT who did some tests and after i mentioned i had a history of migraines suggested i take ths same medication i was on for my migranes. The medication was Sibelium 5mg, i started to feel better and after a few rounds of the medication i felt good. Almost 3 years passed and i was feeling good, with little to no symptoms.
Then this year in September i had a moment when i felt light headed and blacked out, falling down and hitting my head. I was left with a bloody nose which resolved, however 2 weeks after, i woke up one morning feeling the room spin. I had a episode of intense spinning that lasted a couple of minutes. I went to the ER where they treated me for BPPV, they performed a manuver that made me feel the dizziness again. I was suggested to keep doing the exercises at home, eventually the position vertigo got better but i was left with imbalance issues that still persist and feel similar to the earlier year when i was treated with Sibelium. I have had brief episodes(lasting a couple of seconds) of room spinning since then and as usual feel a bit nauseous and left with the same imbalance feeling. I have had tinitis for many years but these days it dose seem to get louder at times.
My honest and very real fear is that i might have Meniers and so out of desperation i am reaching out to you for some clarity. Any help would be very much appreciated.
