Stereotypes don’t just happen on its own. There’s a climatic point within society awareness for the stereotype to be recognized. In other words, stereotypes stemmed from a good percentage of truth. Filipinos are stereotype as good singers too. 😄

As a Filipino American, I don’t have a problem with any of the harmless stereotypes. Two of my sisters are nurses. The whole family loves karaoke. So what?! It’s better than the white people stereotypes of not being able to dance and having food that lacks spices.

The history of the Filipino nurses started when the Philippines was an American colony. They opened the nursing school in the Philippines in 1900s with American curriculum. The filipinos were trained by the american mentors.

Are you a nurse ? ( if they assume you are Filipino) is not derogatory as far as I am concerned. Proud Filipino nurse here. Nurses are heroes here in America. Whoever thought it is to demean is just borne out of ignorance.

Nurse stereotype isn't bad at all. Who doesn't want to be immediately assumed as a healing servant? It's basically like being called a Servant of Light.
