Leonardo was the starting LB for Brazil until their r16 match against USA when he was suspended for knocking Tab Ramos unconscious with an elbow. He had as much of a supporting role as Jorginho. Branco who started the final 3 matches was recovering from a lower back injury, and I guess because of that he was told to not make forward runs as much as the RB.

You forgot to mention that the brazilian side was dead in the 98 final, after Ronaldo had a convulsion. The whole team played like shit because of that.

I think it's overly simplistic to say that because Sacchi played pressing football it was the first time it impacted on a major tournament. There are famous clips of Holland under Michels playing a crazy aggressive style of pressing and it's well known that Lobanovskyi of the USSR also used a pessing style, even Jack Charlton managing Ireland had played a certain type of pressing in Euro 88 and Italia 90. Sure none of these styles were as well-honed or as precise as Sacchi's, but that's the point, his innovations came as a result of what went before him.

You forgot West Germany in 1974 as home teams who won a World Cup

I think uMAXit did not mention Ronaldo replaced Edmundo in the final about 30 minutes before the game. Ronaldo was simply unfit during the whole match. That affected the spirit of Brazilian players and hence the performance during the match.
