I regularly use heavy sprue to mix paints. I have the ends with a piece sticking out to stir out the bottom of the paint bottle.

One time I was building the Revell USS Missouri, and I had lost the piece required for the turret to spin. Instead of giving up and gluing it, I cut a piece of spruce and used it as the piece to rotate the turret. It works surprisingly good albeit a bit stiff.

And, taper the end slightly, and have something to place roadwheels from armored vehicles on, for painting.

Well, yes to all the above, but also, I've been filling seams with threads of stretched sprue, with syringe-applied solvent glues, for 40 years. Results are almost transcendent. And then there are the whip antennae. Nothing makes a better whip antenna than black stretched sprue. Not to belabor the obvious, but you control how thick your finished line is, by how fast you pull the material, once it's hot.
