My bishop challenged me last July to start reading scripture, from the book, every day. I said, well I watch great podcasts that go way more into depth than I can understand on my own. He said, "Great! But also read on your own. Every day. Just try it. There is power in the book and in obedience". This advice has changed my life. I set the bar *very low*. I would shoot for one chapter, but if I was exhausted or something, as long as I read one verse that counted. Almost every night I get a chapter, and sometimes I only get a verse. But I do NOT shame myself in any way for that one verse. I made a commitment and I'm keeping it. And the Lord is definitely making them easier to understand and changing my heart. I challenge YOU, if you struggle with scripture, just start easy. A low bar. But don't miss it.

The bible is a great place to learn about how vindictive and psychotic god is. You can read about his vain display of self “sacrifice”, or learn about his expectations of how we treat our slaves. You can even learn about god’s love for revenge and the genocide of nearly all life on Earth.
